Happy Birthday To Maddie

Happy Birthday to my former Harrisburg homegirl and my dear sister - the Mistress Maddie. I'm not gonna reveal how old Maddie is, but let's just say that she's definitely on the AARP's radar. Is all I'm saying...

Anywhore (emphasis on the last syllable), blogging will be light over the next couple days as Maddie and I hit the town in celebration. Tonight we'll be attending Lady Bunny's show at Escuelita - and then we'll cab it downtown to that bastion of "Modern Dance", The Urge. Gotta support the "local talent", dontcha know.

Tomorrow there will be hangovers to nurse and shopping to do (I took the day off work), so blogging may not return to normal until my liver does. Which could be a while...

Lady Bunny - That Ain't No Lady

I read on Lady Bunny's blog yesterday that she'll be starring in her own one-drag-queen show - "That Ain't No Lady" - every Tuesday during the month of October...
The raunchy, demented drag diva of Wigstock fame presents her first full-length one wo-man show in almost a decade at the popular latin nightspot La Escuelita every Tuesday in October at 8PM. Fast-paced and action-packed with glitzy costumes and Bunny's trademark gravity-defying bouffant wig, THAT AIN'T NO LADY is a cabaret designed for a night club crowd--no lengthy monologues or sappy show tunes here. For mature audiences who enjoy irreverent humor!

Since Maddie is a HUGE Bunny fan, I texted her about the show. Turns out that Tuesday, October 25th (the final night) is Maddie's BIRFDAY!! So we're thinking about a small outing. This could get ugly.

BTW - The last time I was with Maddie and I we encountered Bunny, there was extremely drunken talk of "branding irons" and Harrisburg (PA) drag queens. This took place in the Ladies Room at the old Palladium back in the mid nineties. Baby Jeebus help us...

Holiday Greetings from Maddie

I found these over at Mistress Maddie's BLOG, and it doesn't take a CSI, a Psychic or Nancy Drew to figure out the theme here. Yes, my dear sister Maddie has a drinking problem - especially during the holidays. Specifically, her problem is that she can't get the gin down her thirsty gullet fast enough. Which is definitely a problem.

God love her...

Dinner at the Pomme Cafe

Go HERE to read Maddie's recap of our fabulous dinner at my neighborhood French brasserie - Pomme Cafe. This was my second visit, and I've been quite impressed both times.

What Maddie FORGOT to mention was the incredibly hunky (and friendly) manager. Mon Dieu!

"Hello Ladies. Look At Your Man ..."

"... now look at Maddie. Back to your man - now back to Maddie ... ... He's on a Camel".

Yes, that is the Mistress Maddie taking a spin on a Camel at the Bronx Zoo this afternoon. Good times...

Tiger Triplets at the Bronx Zoo

According to Gawker, there are two new sets of tiger triplets at the fantastic Bronx Zoo. The Malayan tiger cubs (below) were abandoned by their mother and rescued by the Wildlife Conservation Society (which operates the zoo), while the Amur tiger triplets (above) are still being nursed by their 300-lb. mama Sasha.

I hope to be able to see these cuties up-close-and-personal when Maddie and I go to the zoo tomorrow ... followed by a night of debauchery (I'm sure we'll end up at "The Urges"). It has been FOREVER since Maddie and I had a "girls night out" - just the two of us - so it ought to be quite interesting. Please have bail money available in case we call.

As a result, posting will be light until Monday. Tonight I have to clean my apartment, and the rest of the time I plan on being quite DRONK. Hmmmmmm ... I wonder if they serve Bacardi Limon at the zoo?...

Does Mistress Maddie Know About This?

For you new DustBunnies, Maddie is a BLOGGER and one of my dearest friends - who happens to refer to "her" husband as "The Boy Toy". She better hold onto the Boy Toy she has now, because she's not going to be able to run to McDonald's and pick up another one anytime soon - judging by this sign.

Speaking of Maddie, we are scheduled to meet up next weekend for a trip to the Bronx Zoo, followed by a night on the town (AKA bellying up to the bar at "The Urges"). And I cannot wait.

Maddie and I have been trying to go to the Zoo for YEARS, but every time she comes up we end up getting too drunk to make it out of the apartment before 2pm the next afternoon. Thus missing out on the Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh my.

This time we have a plan. Maddie will drive to NYC on Saturday MORNING (we won't be hanging out on Friday night), and we'll go straight to the Bronz Zoo. THEN we'll go out and get our drink on.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong with such a foolproof plan???

Philadelphia With Auntie Flame

As I mentioned before, I spend a fabulous Saturday in the City of Brotherly Love - where I FINALLY got to meet Joy (above left, with Maddie). Joy, as many of you know, is The Grand Duchess of the Dust Bunnies and my "Auntie Flame".

That entire day is a little bit blurry for me - because I was fighting a cold and was under the influence of various medications. I DO recall having an absolutely marvelous time, however I'll let the more sober members of our group do the recaps: see Maddie's take HERE, and read Joy's recollection HERE. And yes, I am as surprised as you are to see "sober" and "Maddie" in the same sentence.

I WAS lucid enough, however, to get one "SIRveillance" shot...

Yes, that probably was a pistol in his pocket, because I don't think he was glad to see me.
Anywhore, it's weird to say I "met" Auntie Flame for the first time on Saturday, because we've emailed, commented on each other's blogs, and talked on the phone many times. In fact, hanging out with Joy was like hanging out with someone I've known my entire life. She was wonderful - as was her friend Tina.

Finally, I'd like to leave you with my favorite picture of the day. Joy really wanted to go to the Naked Chocolate Cafe - and when we did, she ordered the hugest Mocha Choca Latta Ya Ya chocolate drink thingy I've ever seen...

Joy looks really disappointed, doesn't she? ... ... ... cough, cough ... Size Queen! ...cough, cough, hack ... :)

No, Maddie Wants This Dude To Put Her Down

I've been watching the healthcare debate on CSPAN today, and it just kills me that the Republicans have no problem with reciting false talking points on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

But Republican shamelessness really became apparent when Rep. John Shadegg (R-Babysnatchersville) grabbed a 7-month-old child of one of his staffers and used her as a prop while addressing the House.

You know Maddie will become a life-long Democrat as soon as she gets old enough to watch this on YouTube.

A Great Weekend

What a wonderful weekend I had with Maddie (left) and Ginger (right)! We hung out, laughed, drank, stuffed dollar bills into g-strings, shopped, and ate. A lot.

Because of all this debauchery, there won't be a Weigh-In post again this week. But I have every intention of jumping back on the health and fitness bandwagon and reporting in next week.

There is one thing I have to share with you all. Yesterday we went to Pearl River Mart - the Chinatown superstore that sells everything from slippers to housewares to kitschy stuff that will crack you up.

Speaking of kitschy, I bought this little "lunch box" (it's barely big enough for a sandwich) because of the yellow Bunny. But I almost screamed in the store when I read the writing...

It says: "Yummy yummy. My name is Rinda. I love the white cake and sweet cherries."

"Rinda"?!?!?! OMG! Also, right above the yellow Bunny is the name of the item and the name of the company which produces it. The box is called a "Clickety click" (which makes sense - the lid 'clicks' shut). But the company name is ... "Lube Sheep". LUBE SHEEP!!!!

This little box is just filled with WTF! Ginger says I should send it in to Engrish Funny.

Bloated and Cranky ...

Tomorrow afternoon I'll be back on an Amtrak train, and will return to NYC by early evening. And not a moment too soon - I've been eating myself into a coma. I have been to McDonald's (twice), Arby's (!), Burger King - and various others. Furthermore, I ate huge meals with my family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - and the Mistress Maddie had me over to the ancestral manor on Friday. OMG - Maddie's mother sent me home with TWO boxes of her gourmet cookies/sweets, and they didn't last 24 hours!

Anywhoo - I'm feeling bloated and cranky, but I hope to turn things around once I get back to the big city.

R.I.P. - Starrbooty

Please take a moment and send some good wishes to my dear "sister" - Mistress Maddie. Maddie's beloved kitty, Starrbooty - who was a good Dust Bunny - had to be put down today. Maddie called me over the weekend to talk about what was going on - and we had hoped for the best. But unfortunately Starrbooty had cancer and would have suffered greatly - so Maddie and the Boy Toy made the tough decision to let her go.

Maddie and the Boy Toy will be returning to Central Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving - as will I. Maybe we can get together and drink a toast to our departed "girls" - Starrbooty and Emmy.

See Maddie's post - "A Sad Day" - HERE.

Happy Birthday Maddie

Today is Mistress Maddie's birthday! Happy Birthday to my Pennsylvania sister!! As you can see from the picture above - I knitted you something special. And don't forget - I taught you EVERYTHING you know - the shit you forgot is YOUR fault... :)

FYI - even Maddie's kitty - Starbooty - is a Dust Bunny (see below - and read Maddie's post HERE).

The next time we get together we'll have a drink to celebrate your birthday.

Love,

Mamie

Happy Birthday Curt!

My "sister" Maddie's "Boy Toy" is now officially a "Man Toy" - Curt turns 30 this weekend! Happy Birthday dear!!! Here I am with the birthday boy ... er, MAN a few months ago...

And below is a picture of the happy couple - Curt (left) and Maddie (right). I certainly hope Maddie "puts out" this weekend - those young ones need A LOT of ... you know ... ATTENTION...

Don't Go Camping With Skinny Bitches

As you all know - I went camping this past weekend with my friends Maddie and Curt. Maddie and Curt are skinny - I am not. Cheese and crackers is a meal to them. THIS is a meal to ME(actually, these are only appetizers)...

I was hungry all weekend, but skinny Maddie and Curt could eat a grape and then be full for two hours. Not me - I need to keep a constant feedbag going. Maddie and Curt had finally heard enough of my bitching, and we decided to go to a local pub - Platz's. Gary, one of our camping hosts, had been there before - and went along with us. The picture above is of our appetizers. We also each had an entree and were STUFFED by the time we left. My veal parmesan dinner was delish - and Maddie's crabcakes were possibly the best I have ever eaten. See, Maddie is so skinny that he was willing to share his crabcakes with me!

The huge meal DID manage to shut me up for the night. But by the next day (Sunday), I was hungry again (natch). So guess where we went on our way back home...

Arby's number three baby!!!!!
Thank you Maddie and Curt for putting up with my whining - and for feeding me..... eventually.
XOXOXO

Pickled Eggs and Pregnancy Tests...

Maddie and I hit the supermarket and the drugstore before we left for the weekend. At the grocery store salad bar they had a Pennsylvania Dutch delicacy...

Pickled Eggs! This picture doesn't show the reddish-purple color that results from "pickling" the hard-boiled eggs with beets. Here is what they look like when you cut one open.

They may look weird, but they are delicious. That's some Good Eatin', as we would say.

Then we hit up the local CVS, where Maddie stocked up on the essentials...

Actually, Maddie was being his usual funny self - and walked up to me with his hands full and said "I got everything I need - let's go". I just HAD to take a picture. The pregnancy test is a nice touch...

Arby's Blogging...

Hello my Darling Dust Bunnies. I am blogging from the gorgeous gay wilderness of The Woods campground. It is Sunday afternoon, and we will soon be headed back to Maddie and Curt's apartment - where I will begin my 4-hour train trek home.

We have had a GREAT time. And before we got here, they took me to my favorite eatery ... TWICE!!!

On Thursday evening, Curt was nice enough to drive into Philadelphia and pick me up at the train station - thus allowing me to avoid a third transfer to a third train. I was tired and hungry, and Curt (AKA Maddie's "Boy Toy") made it a point to take me to Arby's. Here he is (below) proudly holding his feedbag.

The next day - while driving to Camp - the three of us stopped at a different Arby's for lunch. That's Maddie and Curt (below) trying to avoid the rain.

Needless to say, it's been a DELICIOUS weekend. More pics/stories later...
