Pelosi: Boehner Bill "Perfectly Absurd"

Before the "Sugar-coated Satan Sandwich" debt ceiling compromise bill came about on Sunday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi spent 8 minutes lambasting the old Boehner bill. Pelosi is a master politician, but sometimes her public speaking is a bit less than impressive. But not this time - Mrs. Pelosi was on fire (for her, anyway). Favorite part: @ 5:53-ish "ANDIWILLNOTYIELDTOYOU". Via Towleroad...

Side Note: We need to do everything we can to make sure Nancy Pelosi becomes Speaker again in 2012.

Totally Straight Rep. Aaron Schock Turns 30

Non-gay Congresstwink Aaron Schock (R - Fire Island Pines), who is TOTALLY not gay, turns 30 years old today. Happy Birthday Girl Congressman!

Reports say that Miss Thang Rep. Schock celebrated at a Mimosa Brunch with friends from the Gym, followed by a quick mani/pedi and then a disco nap in preparation for tonight's club-hopping. Just like any normal, warm-blooded, All-American straight dude.

"GUUUUURRRRLLL - you BETTER be at the Club tonight!"

Republican Beefcake

Totally not gay Illinois Congressman Aaron Schock (take out the "s" and the "h" and see what you get) graces the cover of totally not gay magazine Men's Health this month.

You may remember Rep. Schock (R-IL) from his totally not gay appearance on Top Chef (my recap is HERE), which airs on that totally not gay network, Bravo

AARON SCHOCK IS TOTALLY NOT GAY ... I don't know how many times I have to tell you that.

Rep. Jackie Speier - "I Lost A Baby"

This, ladies and gentlequeens, is what's known in some circles as "reading for filth". From Towleroad:
Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) delivered an emotional and personal rebuttal during a debate over abortion last night.
The WaPo reports: "The debate was over GOP Rep. Mike Pence's drive to defund Planned Parenthood. Speier's outburst was triggered by GOP Rep. Chris Smith, who had read aloud graphic descriptions of abortion from a book only moments before."

Please watch her response:

The "Big Effin' Deal" Is Done

From MSNBC:
WASHINGTON - Capping an epic struggle, congressional Democrats put the final touches Thursday to historic legislation enshrining healthcare as the right of every citizen. Republicans vowed to campaign for repeal in the fall election season, drawing a quick retort from President Barack Obama: "I welcome that fight."
I watched the quick vote on the Reconciliation bill last night on CSPAN, and for a moment I thought the Democrats didn't have the votes to pass it.  But I should have known that when Madame Speaker bangs her gavel, she has all the votes she needs.

The Lone Republican

Rep. Joseph Cao (R-LA) was the only Republican "yes" vote in the U.S. House's health care reform vote on Saturday night. And, as a result, Rep. Cao is being subjected to racist name calling (and worse) from those good, God-fearing "Christians" on the right. If you would like to thank him on his Facebook page, go HERE. I did.

Here's a little-known fact about little-ole moi - I LOVE interactive political maps. OMG - after the presidential election I spent hours on DailyKos playing with their interactive map which showed the election results. Much to my delight, the New York Times published an interactive map yesterday the the results of vote on H.R. 3962 - the health care bill. Squeeeeeee! Go HERE to see how everyone voted, district-by-district.

I bet you CAN'T WAIT, can you? I can tell...

No, Maddie Wants This Dude To Put Her Down

I've been watching the healthcare debate on CSPAN today, and it just kills me that the Republicans have no problem with reciting false talking points on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

But Republican shamelessness really became apparent when Rep. John Shadegg (R-Babysnatchersville) grabbed a 7-month-old child of one of his staffers and used her as a prop while addressing the House.

You know Maddie will become a life-long Democrat as soon as she gets old enough to watch this on YouTube.
