News: Somaya Reece On "Love & Hip-Hop 2"

Somaya Reece is back in headlines, this time for speaking on the second season of VH1's hit show 'Love & Hip-Hop.The model/singer was interviewed by VIBE Vixen and dished on the new episodes set to hit television screens in November.

In addition to speaking on the new season, Reece also offered some advice to the newest castmate Kimbella, the girlfriend of Julez Santana. Speaking on the model who's rumored to have drama with Emily B over rapper Fabolous she says, "It's funny because so many people have asked me, ‘How does it feel to not be the villain? I will say no matter who decides to come to our show, be yourself. Don't try to be a whore or act like you're going to bust a cap in somebody. Don't turn into somebody else because you're on television. If you're going to come on this show with a bunch of strong women, you better know to just be yourself. Especially for Kimbella, if you're coming into a situation where you don't know anyone, be honest because neither of us on the show likes dishonesty. It's really important to remain honest and true to yourself."

The songstress and arch nemesis of singer Olivia also made sure to mention that she's happy to be back for a second season to redeem herself. According to Reece, the first season felt like a personal attack against her."It feels good to return, because the first season, it seemed like it was an attack against [me]. It was supposed to be more about my music, but it ended up showing more of my personal side as far as me moving to New York from L.A. I chose to live the way I did in New York. I have a home in Los Angeles, and I'm well of it L.A. They thought it was funny. It was challenging, but I'm up for the challenge. I always tried to reach out to the girls, because they didn't understand me or my story. I was doing a lot of things during season 1, but they didn't show it. They didn't show my Lionsgate film, my tequila brand and clothing line. Hopefully, they'll show it this time around."

Project Runway 9 Ep. 10 - "That 70's Show"

This week’s episode of Project Runway is all about the 70’s! Just like last week - but with less facial hair!! Presumably!!

There are 7 designers remaining, and Laura remarks that everyone left can construct clothing – it’s now all about “taste level” and “good Mood trips”. Duuuude, this IS a 70’s challenge…

After seeing Heidi on the runway, the fashiontestants meet Tim and some Piperlime Lady in the workroom. This week’s challenge will be “Sophisticated 70’s” …

…as opposed to “Unsophisticated 70’s”…

Ms. Piperlime and Tim announce that the winning look will be produced and sold on Piperlime.com. Far out!

The designers get to sketching, and Bert’s all like “I GOT THIS, bitches” since he personally partied his way through the groovy 70’s.

Josh, on the other hand, is clueless about 70’s fashion. And poor Kimberly – using her mother as her muse – is thinking “sexy secretary”. Oh honey … NO. Nothing fashionable has ever come out of the words “mom”, “sexy” and “secretary” put together. Nothing.

Everyone heads to Mood, where they have $100 to spend. Everyone except for Anya, who loses her money and then frantically tries to find it (to no avail). Anthony Ryan gives her his leftover $11.50 to purchase one piece of fabric, but otherwise Anya has just bought herself a one-way ticket to Muslin City.

Back in the workroom, Anya has a huge case of No-Fabric-Sads due to her muslin dilemma. She mentions that muslin is bland like corn flakes, and she needs some “magic dust” so she can keep on truckin’. Anya is obviously getting into the spirit of this 70’s challenge…

Speaking of sniffing – Josh can’t seem to figure out what he wants to do, so he goes nosing around the other designers. Specifically Viktor. But Viktor knows a jive-ass turkey when he sees one, and announces that he won’t be filming a sequel to Driving Miss Daisy anytime soon…

Bert, on the other hand, if feeling out of sight - he must have brought the magic dust with him. Bert even jokes with Laura about earning his Halston job on the balcony at Studio 54. For those of you not familiar with the history of New York nightlife, there was no DANCING going on up in the dark Studio 54 balcony – if you smell what I’m stepping in.

Day #1 ends and #2 begins with a Tim Gunn announcement: they will also be creating a separate, one-piece look. The designers have 15 minutes to sketch and then $50 to spend on a Good Mood Trip.

At Mood, no one loses money this time, so the designers head back to the workroom so Tim can do his critiques. The highlight here was Tim telling Laura: “You in danger, Girl” when it comes to Nina Friggin Garcia. It seems that Nina has a bit of an issue with Laura’s ‘taste level’. Laura dismisses this – announcing that, if anything, her taste might be “too refined”. Oh honey … much like Mother Nature, you don’t wanna mess with NFG.

Runway Day arrives and it’s all hair, makeup and last-minute sewing. In the L’Oreal Paris Makeup Salon, Joshua requests a “sun kissed face” for his model. Voila…

Thank you ladies and gentlemen – I’ll be here all week.

On the runway, Heidi introduces the judges – Michael Kors, NFG and someone named Olivia Palermo. The theme this season – at least when it comes to guest judges – is “obscure”.

The models walk the runway, and Nina Friggin Garcia is all side-eye …

…while Olivia Friggin Palermo looks like she has a sad …

Commercial break: Christian Siriano wants you Hot Tranny Messes to know that it’s time for Payless.

It's also time for the judging:

Kimberly is safe.

Likee

Viktor. Safari.

Anya. First look cost $11.50. Second look (a jumper) really wowed the judges.

Balcony Bert. Disco queen.

No Likee:

Laura. Prints don’t go together. Also, NFG hates her. Just saying.

Joshua. NFG: Fabric was “WHORE REN DUSS” and “Tragic”. Michael Kors: pants break every law of fashion from every decade, forever. Josh responds by being Josh (AKA nasty, defensive and dickish).

Anthony Ryan. I knew that Anthony-Ryan was doomed when he mentioned “weed smoking” as one of his 70’s references (this challenge is more about coke and ‘ludes, FYI). Nina kept saying that his models looked like cult members, and Michael called them “Hippie Sister-Wives”.

The judges discuss and the designers head backstage so Josh can be Josh and get defensive about how clueless and tacky he is. Same as it ever was.

Results:

Anya is the winner and will be starring in the Lifetime Original Movie “The Beauty Queen Who Lost Her Money – A Tale Of Survival”. Her jumper will be produced and sold by Piperlime...

Bert's second look will also be produced and sold, although for some reason he's not the co-winner...

Victor and Laura are in.

This leaves Joshua and Anthony Ryan. And, as we all know, “douchenozzle” always trumps “nice guy” on Project Runway – so the nice guy is sent home.

As they would say in the 70’s – “check you later” Anthony Ryan.

News: Kandi Gets Her Own Reality Show

Kandi Burruss completely transformed her Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Kim Zoliciak into a singer on the successful digital single “Tardy for the Party."  Now the hit maker will have a chance to work her magic again on a Bravo special titled The Kandi Factory.

News: Jay-Z Throws A Carnival For College Kids

On Thursday night, Jay-Z hosted a carnival at the Hudson River Park pier for his Shawn Carter Foundation. But it wasn't all Ferris wheels and funnel cakes  unfortunately Momofuku doesn't make those. The event was called "Making Ordinary Extraordinary", and it sought to raise funds for college scholarships.

MTV caught up with Mr. Carter at the event, where he said the evening was about having fun while raising money for a good cause. Jay-z said two of the worst things in life are a waste of talent and a person who applies him or herself but is unable to advance due to financial hardship. He hoped this foundation would help ease such burdens and assist people in recognizing their potential.

"Just providing opportunity and seeing what people do with that opportunity. If you want to go further and you want to further your education, just giving someone that extra little push so that maybe you'll turn out to be someone special," Jay-z said.

Jay-z and his mother, Gloria Carter, started the foundation in 2002 to help those facing socioeconomic difficulties further their education at institutions of higher learning. The foundation started with one student earning a full ride through college and grew to offer 50 scholarships to students in 50 different states annually from 2003 to 2005. More than 750 students have been awarded scholarships totaling in excess of $1.1 million, and nearly 500 kids have taken part in the foundation's college tours  some even rode the bus with Jay-z's mom.

"My mom has been running this for a number of years," said Jay. "My mom gets on the bus and takes the kids and takes them to their orientations and she's been riding around the college. It's a real grassroots thing that she's been doing on her own, and I'm just really trying to help her expand it so we can help more people. It started out as a Brooklyn thing, and then it started as a New York thing, and now hopefully we can take it to a worldwide thing."

Be Inspired By: Dice

On The 6th proud presents an exclusive with Dice Dixon. You watch her every week on Vh1's Hit reality show "LaLa's Full Court Life". She's so much more than just being LaLa's cousin. They both come from one of the most humble and inspirational families. Dice has shown the world, its okay to be you and live life the way you choose too. She's about to be a college graduate and has so much more to accomplish in life. Take a minute and get to know Dice.

In her own words:

A little background about me is I'm originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia. I'm currently in graduate school at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I graduate December 2011. I am an only child.

Life has been a little different since being on tv. People recognize who I am when I'm out and they speak and wanna take pictures with me. It's so funny because I have had a few people want my autograph and I do not look at myself as a celebrity.

The next step for me is to graduate and get a job. If there is another opportunity for me to do reality tv or even another opportunity as far as the entertainment world, I would not pass it up. At least I will have that degree to fall back on if need be.

On of my proudest moments in currently being in graduate school with a 4.0 GPA. I never had grades like that before. I was always a good student but never 4.0.

The goals that I have not yet accomplished is I would love to talk with young adults and teens in the LBGT community. I would like to try and help those that are getting bullied and having trouble with being open with their families.

I have no regrets. You cannot go on living life with regrets. I think that I am a cool and down to earth person. Sometimes I feel like I am too nice. Sometimes the nice guy finishes last. lol I wish I could be more focused with working out and losing weight. I like to eat. Its so much good food in the world. lol.

The best advise I have received is be true to yourself and follow your heart. You only have one life to live and you cannot worry about what others have to say because they are living their life. I would tell people to just work hard and follow your dreams. It's not what you know all the time, it's who you know.

To me being sexy is a women who takes care of herself and is concerned about her appearance. Someone who can make me smile and laugh. My soul mate has to be a wonderful person all the way around and someone who I would want to spend the rest of my life with.

A lot of people are telling me now that they appreciate me and look up to me because of who I am on tv. It means a lot to me, because all I can do is be myself and obviously that is good enough. I'm very honored and humbled by the tittle and if I can help anyone feel more comfortable to be themselves then I'm all for it.
