Learn It!

You Project Runway fans out there probably already know bloggers Tom and Lorenzo.  Their site, Tom & Lorenzo - Fabulous & Opinionated (formerly Project Rungay) covers all things Project Runway - as well as fashion and other TV shows which interest them.

One thing Tom and Lorenzo are NOT, is political. They don't break into their regularly-scheduled fabulousness to tell you the latest about Prop 8 or DADT - not that they're not interested in those things, but it's just not the purpose of their blog.

However, one of the Project Runway designers became a big, whiny bee in Tom & Lorenzo's bonnet last week - and they let him have it.  And it was delicious.

First of all, some background.  Jason Troisi (above) is a straight fashion designer who was selected to be on this season's Project Runway.  During week #1 he sent a horrible STAPLED-together garment down the runway.  And last week, during the "Design A Garment for a Marie Claire Billboard" challenge, he created a nasty piece of grossness which was held together with safety pins.  Exhibit A:

This was how the garment was photographed for a potential Marie Claire billboard!  Ridiculous, right?!?  Well, Jason blamed everyone besides himself for his fashion crime - his model ("not a runway model") and Marie Claire (not a "tough" magazine), among other things.

But the straw that broke Tom and Lorenzo's fabulous backs was the fact that Jason - after receiving (much-deserved) criticism from Tim Gunn - had the nerve to blame society and the fact that he is STRAIGHT...
"I'm a straight man in a gay man's world,"

Oh.No.He.Di.Int...

Tom & Lorenzo's response was so epic, so well-written, and so POLITICALLY spot-on - that I had to copy it verbatim:
Listen, a&&hole. When you are barred from marrying, adopting children, serving in the military, visiting your spouse in the hospital, or even joining the f%cking Boy Scouts, you get the right to whine about how unfair life is. When packs of gay men go around taunting, beating and even killing straight men, you get to whine about how unfair life is. When political parties use you as both a punching bag and a fundraising tool without ever doing anything to improve your lot in life or even ensuring that you have basic civil rights, you get to whine about how unfair life is. When Tim Gunn points out your piece of sh*t dress is a piece of sh*t dress, you thank him for the critique, get back to work, and try to salvage the mess you made.

Project Runway Season 7 News

Tom & Lorenzo broke the big news yesterday afternoon - Lifetime has confirmed that Michael Kors and Nina Garcia will appear in EVERY episode of Project Runway Season 7. Oh Happy Day!!!

Then our friends at Blogging Project Runway came out with some unconfirmed (but just as juicy) tidbits. Their sources suggest that Season 7 might premier in mid-January. Furthermore, Tim Gunn told BPR that "If Season Six is a ten, then Season Seven is a twenty-five!".

What do you think - do you believe Tim? Or was he just doing his job and hyping next season?

Also, what do you think about Michael and Nina judging every episode? Personally, I think it's fantastic - and the way it should be. The show has suffered this season from the lack of consistent judging.

Thoughts?...

Bootleg Blogging - Branden Rickman = SUPERMODEL

I am currently experiencing testicle technical difficulties with my computer - so I am Bootleg Blogging from a secure and secret location.

Congratulations to Branden Rickman for winning Make Me a Supermodel – Season 2. I know some people are upset by Branden’s surprise win, but I am happy for him. There is just something so sweet about youthful enthusiasm and joy – something Branden posseses in large quantities.

What sealed the deal for me last night was when Branden and his Mom (below) rolled into the Soho art gallery and began jumping up and down and yelling with excitement when they saw his photos. That’s NOT the way a Guest of Honor at an Art Opening usually acts, and I thought it was hysterical and adorable.

And then there's this...

Considering Branden is only 18-years-old – and I now reside in Pervertsville – I can’t help but be happy for the cutie (and his booty).

What did you think of the show last night?

Project Runway vs. The Fashion NO

Yesterday I caught a mini-marathon of Project Runway Season 4 - and I was struck by how incredibly good that season (and Project Runway in general) was. I watched the Levi's episode, the Wrestling Divas episode, the Metropolitan Museum of Art episode, the "Showcase Showdown" between Chris & Rami, and the Season Finale where Christian "Mango" Siriano presented the fiercest collection in the history of Project Runway.

Now THIS was a reality show cast of talented bitches who were (mostly) likable and created entertaining television...

Even the ones who annoyed me (Victorya, Ricky, Rami) were way more likeable/watchable when compared to these duds ...

Yes, I'm talking about the hapless non-seamstresses from The Fashion NO. Gross. Even Isaac Mizrahi has moved to the "Gross" category after he threw that pissyfit at the Manolo Blahnik Exec/Guest Judge last week...

BTW - go HERE for Tom & Lorenzo's hysterical take on Isaac Vs. The Shoe Queen.

I KNOW Project Runway will be different on Lifetime (and in Los Angeles). But even at it it's worst, Project Runway is good television ... not gross television.

Hedda Lettuce Auditions For Rupaul's Drag Race

Wonderful news from Tom & Lorenzo - drag sensation Hedda Lettuce has auditioned for RuPaul's Drag Race Season 2! Project Runway fans will remember Hedda as the drag queen who gave Suede agita during PR Season 5, when she accused him of making "Gozilla-ish" gloves instead of sleeves for her outfit. Go HERE to find out more, and see Hedda's audition tape.

I pray that Hedda makes it - as much as already love RuPaul's show, it would be that much better with Hedda on it.

RuPaul's Drag Race - The Finish Line

Did you all watch the Grand Finale of RuPaul's Drag Race last night? If you have not, you can go HERE and view the entire episode for free.

I must say - I thought the Reunion show (which followed the Finale) was much more entertaining than the Finale itself. I took some notes on both, and will do a post later in the afternoon/evening. Right now I have real life work to get done.

BTW - the picture above is from Tom & Lorenzo's blog. It shows Bebe, Rebecca, and Nina attending the annual Night of a Thousand Gowns. Check out TLo's post HERE, and check out the Mistress Maddie's Night of a Thousand Gowns post HERE.

Also, the winner of the Rona Green artwork will be announced this afternoon.

RuPaul's Drag Race - Grand Finale Tonight

Tonight we finally get to the finish line of RuPaul's Drag Race. The Grand Finale airs tonight on Logo at 10:00 pm, followed by the Reunion Special at 11:00 pm.

In other RuPaul-related news, California Dust Bunny Cris sent me a picture from the set of RuPaul's latest video (below). Cris' friend was working on the production and snapped the photo, which Cris emailed it to me. To check out Cris' Livejournal/Blog, click HERE. Thanks Cris!!

Finally, Tom & Lorenzo have posted more fabulous pictures of RuPaul's Drag Racers on their blog. Check out glamour shots of Victoria "Pork Chop" Parker (below), Rebecca Glasscock, and Nina Flowers (bottom) HERE.

I'll have some kind of commentary about tonight's Grand Finale & Reunion posted by tomorrow afternoon. Who do you think will win?
