Dust Bunny Weekend Is Over...

Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend II is over, and I've had to say goodbye to Howard, Ginger, Mark and Joe (insert sad face here).

Speaking of sad faces, I'm not going to lie - I was really disappointed in the lack of attendance this time. When I first announced DDBW II, many Bunnies said they would come. I spent a lot of time and effort planning and preparing - and I really looked forward to hanging out with a bunch of you. In fact, the energy of the weekend depends on having a large group - when there are only a handful of Bunnies it's hard to keep the momentum going. Let's just say the momentum was severely lacking this time. And YES, I know you all had valid excuses for not coming - but that doesn't make it any less disappointing.

Again, much love to Howard, Ginger, Mark and Joe. It was WONDERFUL hanging out with you this weekend.

But, frankly, I think this may have been the last DDBW.

Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend II has officially begun! I will be meeting up with Howard and Ginger this afternoon and Mark in DE and Marker later this evening. If you are in/near NYC, come hang with us tonight (Friday) at "The Urges" (real name: Urge Lounge) for some good, old-fashioned go-go manhandling.

Tomorrow (Saturday) night we will be heading over to Escuelita to hang with the Papis and see the hilarious Lady Bunny perform.

Escuelita, 309 W. 39th Street @ 8th Avenue, Times Square, NYC

Posting will be sporadic over the next few days. Also, there will be no Project Runway recap this week. Let the festivities begin...

Wanna Hang With Some Dust Bunnies?

The next Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend is less than a week away, and if you are in the NYC area you should consider hanging out with us. This gathering will be a much more intimate affair, as many of the attendees from the first DDBW cannot make it this time. But some hardcore Bunnies will be representing, and you should plan on joining us.

Here is the schedule. Friday night (10/23) - Urge Lounge (AKA "The Urges") - 11 pm...

Urge is a TON of fun - with nice bartenders and a bunch of sexy go-go guys dancing on the bar. There is no cover to get in (bring I.D.) - just the cost of drinks and tips for the dancing beauties.

Urge is located in the East Village at 32 2nd Avenue (between 1st and 2nd Streets).

Saturday night (10/24). Pre-festivities private party (email me for details) - followed by the legendary Escuelita club at midnight.

Escuelita has been in Times Square forever - and the Latin papis and drag queen mamis still flock to this club. There is always SOMETHING going on, and the drag show is always a lot of fun...

Escuelita is located at 301 W. 39th Street (off of 8th Avenue)

Breaking Dust Bunny News...

Boy Ginger has confirmed for Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend!!!...

BTW - it would be nice if the Biatch showed up with some delicious Roast Beef since it's so hard to find around here - is all I'm saying. Anywhore, there is a rumor flying around that Boy Ginger just MIGHT be bringing along the Fabulous Miss Ginger Grant for a Saturday night appearance!!!...

So, for now it looks like we're headed to The Urges on Friday night, and then a trip to the famed Times Square show bar/disco Escuelita on Saturday. And, of course, our traditional trip to the Bronx Zoo during the day - which we never manage to do because of our hangovers. But maybe this time...

Won't you join us?!? If you have any questions, or just want to let me know that you're thinking about hanging out with us, please drop me a line: daviddust@gmail.com. Seriously, even if you've never commented or emailed - I would dearly love to meet you and we always have the best time.

Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend Fast Approaching!

DDBW II is just a couple of weeks away ... and we've just had another confirmation. Marker will be attending!...

Marker is the shirtless stud in the middle - the one hitting on my future ex-husband - Francois S (left). Remind me to have a discussion with Marker regarding this indescretion.

The only plan so far is that we will all be meeting at "The Urges" to fondle go-go's on Friday (Oct. 23). If you live in/near NYC - plan on joining us. The rest of the schedule will be determined in the near future. Possibilities for Saturday night include maybe hitting up Escuelita for the Drag Show and Papis, or maybe finishing the West Village Bar Tour we attempted during DDBW I.

And for those of you who have NOT confirmed yet, don't miss out on your chance to end up looking like THIS...

... with your Dust Bunny Family.

Return Of The Roxy?

OK, I realize about once a year I do a post about my favorite gay mega dance club possibly reopening - but this time it REALLY might happen.

If you recall my earlier writing, THE place to be on Saturday nights if you were gay in NYC was the Roxy. The roller-skating-rink-slash-nightclub ruled Saturday nights from 1991 until the night it closed in 2007. The club shut down due to its proximity to the High Line (see below). Developers wanted to demolish the Roxy and build condos which could take advantage of the views of the park next door.

But the real estate market dried up just as fast as New York nightlife. Ever since 2007, there has been no big gay dance club night in all of New York City. Sure, there is Splash and and a few other places to dance, but in my day "Splish" (as we called it) was the place you went for cocktails BEFORE heading over to Roxy. Then again, I am old as dirt.

Former club owner Gene DeNino has reportedly submitted a liquor license application, and rumors are he might team up with former Saturday night promoter John Blair to drum up enough investors to get the club up and running again. The rent is said to be around $60,000 a month - but that could be easily covered on one Saturday night with 3,000 queens paying $20 a piece at the door just to get in.

Then again, every queen in NYC thinks they are fabulous and deserve comped admission (or at least reduced-priced admission) - so maybe "making the rent" isn't as easy as it looks on paper.

Regardless, I am declaring for all the world to hear: Even though I stopped going to clubs many years ago - I WOULD drag my fat ass back to Roxy. I have so many memories (well, not really memories ... more like VAGUE IMPRESSIONS) of good times there. And if my bartender Cathy goes back at her post (and I wouldn't be surprised if she did), then I might even consider making a Saturday night habit out of the Roxy again. Lordy, those kids HAVE NO IDEA what kind of mess that could be.

If Roxy happens to open up before October 23rd, we will take a trip there for Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend II. Plan ahead...

Drunken Dust Bunny - GIFTS!

I am back to reality (and back to work) today, but I've decided to try and feature pics from the Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend every day this week. Nothing like clinging to your fabulous past...

Above are some of the gifts I received from various Dust Bunnies. The Chinese red fan and the sandalwood soap were from Maddie, the bunny dish was from Kailyn, and the fabulous red kitchen accessories were from Mark in DE and Spouse. Also from Mark was this fabulous refrigerator magnet, which perfectly sums up my attitude toward exercise...

Thanks for all the goodies!!!

DDBW Comes To An End

Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend has come to an end ... and I have a big case of the sads. This was such an incredible time spent with such an incredible group of friends - and I miss them already. In the picture above we have (from left to right) Mistress Maddie, Kailyn, Moi, Boy Ginger, Zombie Mom, and my bestest girlfriend TrannyBeth. And YES, there is a story behind Beth's head-to-toe makeover, but I don't have the time or energy to go into that now. I get to see my Beth one last time when I take her to the airport in a few hours ... and then I'll be REALLY sad.

I have a ton of pictures to go through - and every one of us had cameras - so the other bloggers will probably post pictures on their blogs also. Speaking of pictures, I would like to thank Howard for being my official photographer this weekend. The great thing about this was that I didn't have to stop drinking to take pictures. The bad thing about this was that there are hardly any pictures of Howard :(

Here is my fabulous photographer giving me some sugar ...

I had the pleasure of seeing Mark In DE (below left) and his fabulous Spouse on Friday AND Saturday night. Their trip to NYC was the catalyst that started DDBW - and it was great seeing them again. They even brought me PRESENTS ... which I will show you in a future post.

Marker (below center - wearing black) threw the "Peace, Bitch!" symbol down in the subway on Saturday - along with members of his entourage. And that's Maddie's husband - The Boy Toy - on the left. The Boy Toy did a little blogging on his own before he arrived in NYC on Saturday...

Over the next few days/weeks, you'll be seeing many more pictures of this most fabulous of weekends. Whether you like it or not.

Let's Go To Pieces!

Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend has begun! If you are in or near Manhattan tomorrow (Saturday) night - meet me and the Dust Bunnies at Pieces (8 Christopher Street) between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. We will be attempting the first annual Drunken Dust Bunny Bar Tour where we will have one drink at each bar (in and around Christopher St.), and then move on to the next one.

All attendees will receive a "Peace, Bitch!" button (below) and a bunch of sloppy hugs and kisses. Good times.

Peace, Bitch!

In honor of Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend ... which officially begins NOW.

Fruity (Dust) Bunnies - ALL DIFFERENT FLAVORS!

Yes, the first annual Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend begins on Friday - and I am SO EXCITED. Miss Ginger thought it would be a good idea for me to post pics of all the confirmed attendees, so people can start putting faces to names/blogs. BTW - Marker (below) sent me the Fruity Bunnies pic (above), and I thought it would be just TOO appropriate for this post. Although if you read the fine print at the bottom, it says "No Icky Additives Or Pesky Preservatives" - which would definitely leave a few of these bitches out. Yes, my dear sister Maddie, I'm looking at you :)

Anywhore, without further adieu, here are the Fruity Bunnies confirmed for DDBW...

The handsome, intelligent, and funny Marker

The well-preserved Mistress Maddie - one of my dearest friends in the world

Maddie's adorable husband, the Boy Toy

The lovely and talented Kailyn - coming all the way from California

A Bunny I've had the pleasure of meeting before - Howard

The Fabulous Miss Ginger Grant - who we PRAY makes an appearance...

...and if not, the equally fabulous Boy G will fulfill all of Miss G's obligations.

My darling Zombie Mom - who I have been dying to finally meet in person

One of the reasons why DDBW is happening is because Mark In DE (center) and his handsome Spouse (left) decided to visit NYC this weekend. I did a little shout-out to the BunnyNation to see if anyone else wanted to hang in with us ... and lookie what happened. So, if anything goes wrong, I am TOTALLY blaming Mark. Just kidding, my dear. And yeah, that's me on the right looking extremely well-fed during a visit with them last year.

And finally, the Guest of Honor - the Empress of the Dust Bunnies - TRANNYBETH!! I am picking Beth up bright and early on Friday morning, and I'm not going to stop hugging on her until I take her back to the airport when DDBW is finished.

And remember, if you can get to Manhattan on Saturday night, meet us at Pieces Bar between 9:00 and 10:00 PM for the first annual Drunken Dust Bunny West Village Bar Tour. More information HERE.

>Peace, Bitches!!!
