Last Night on Project Runway ...

Random thoughts about last night's show...

• These 1 1/2-hour episodes are great in the beginning when there are a lot of designers, but they become a big snoozefest at this point in the show. How many times can they have each designer say "I just HAVE to make it to Fashion Week!" ??
• Every time I think Gwretched might not be all that horrible, she goes and proves that she really IS. "I'm glad I got the same second chance that YOU ALL got" was one of the stankest comments in the history of Project Runway.
• I agree with TLo - the producers decided who they wanted in the final, and the judges made it happen. Gwretched could have taken a hot steamy dump in Nina Garcia's Prada bag, and she would STILL be going to Fashion Week. The producers know that Gwretched is a controversial "character", whereas April (below) was not. And as we all know, Project Runway has become more about drama than it is about fashion these days.

• It was great to see Christian/Mango - but I wish he wouldn't have been so damn nice. I wanted him to call out some of the bland "fashion" that walked down the runway last night. I also think it's interesting that he kept talking about the practical aspects of fashion - Who is your customer?; Is it wearable and sell-able?  You can tell our little Mango runs his own fashion company now - and doesn't have much time to create fierceness just for fierceness sake. That fierceness needs to SELL.
• Finally, here was Swatch's reaction to this entire season ...

Tonight on Project Runway - Mayor Mike and Mango!

Project Runway will get two special visitors tonight - Mayor Mike Bloomberg (above), and guest judge Christian Siriano (below) - who is affectionately referred to as "Mango" around here due to his uncanny resemblance to the SNL character played by Chris Kattan...

Anywhore, Christian will always have a special place in my heart (as I mentioned in THIS POST) because he in many ways shaped the direction of this blog - from a bland "This Is What I Did Yesterday" diary to a "Snarky Smack Talk Fierce HotTrannyMess" EXTRAVAGANZA.

Christian Siriano - Having a Moment

I was bummed there wasn't a new RuPaul's Drag Race on last night, but Froggy reminded me (via Twitter) that Christian Siriano's special - Having A Moment - was showing on Bravo.

So I watched, and after it was over I became really sad.  Sad because one hour of watching Christian Siriano creating a collection and showing at Bryant Park was 100 times more entertaining than Seasons 6 and 7 (combined) of Project Runway.

I know Christian may get on people's nerves, but in many ways he is responsible for the direction my blog took.  After I got a little positive feedback to MY FIRST PROJECT RUNWAY POST in November of 2007 (in which I referred to Christian as "Mango"), I decided to jump on the Snarky Express.  And I've been going full steam ahead ever since.

Watching Christian reminded me of the good old days when Project Runway designers had personalities and I didn't have to wrack my brain each week trying to put out a funny(ish) recap.  Let me tell you this: I would much rather watch an hour each week of Christian Siriano ordering Chinese takeout and making dresses for B-list actresses.  And I guarantee you that my recaps of that shizz would be HIGH-larious.

Christian Siriano = Hot Tranny Mess

Project Runway's Christian Siriano just posted this Halloween pic of him and his boyfriend Brad Walsh on his TWATTER. They are dressed as Disney's Ariel and Prince Eric.

What say you: Fierce or Not So Fierce??? Personally, I think Mango looks pretty hot in drag.

Shawne Merriman Takes A Shot At Tila Tequila

Former Daddy of the Day - and San Diego Chargers linebacker - Shawne Merriman (above) was arrested on suspicion of choking and restraining reality TV star Tila Tequila (below) last night. Tequila ended up in the hospital, and Merriman remains in custody. Read the story HERE.

I'm just glad that the often-in-trouble Merriman was in a good mood when he met Project Runway's Christian Siriano back in April ...
