D.C. Catholic Charities - No More Spousal Benefits for ANYONE

The loving and compassionate leaders of Washington DC's Catholic Charities have decided to stop offering spousal benefits to new employees - in order to prevent the Evil Gays from being covered.

Employees at Catholic Charities were told Monday that the social services organization is changing its health coverage to avoid offering benefits to same-sex partners of its workers -- the latest fallout from a bitter debate between District officials trying to legalize same-sex marriage and the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. Starting Tuesday, Catholic Charities will not offer benefits to spouses of new employees or to spouses of current employees who are not already enrolled in the plan. A letter describing the change in health benefits was e-mailed to employees Monday, two days before same-sex marriage will become legal in the District. "We looked at all the options and implications," said the charity's president, Edward J. Orzechowski. "This allows us to continue providing services, comply with the city's new requirements and remain faithful to the church's teaching."

Joe.My.God further notes that this is the same organization which ended its foster care program instead of allowing gays to participate. FYI: Catholic Charities receives $22M annually from the city of D.C.

Yes, the Catholic Church shows us on a daily basis what they really are - an extremist right-wing conservative political organization which cares more about protecting PedoPriests and bashing gays than it does helping people.  Disgusting.

Escandalo!

OMG - a Catholic Priest scandal that doesn't involve embezzlement or little boys! South Beach Priest, Rev. Alberto Cutié (his real name) was caught cavorting with a REAL LIVE LADYPERSON by a Mexican tabloid last week. Father Cutié has since proclaimed his love for the woman - and will probably be kicked out of the priesthood as a result.


In my opinion, the idea of celibacy for Priests is ridiculous in this day and age. Just look at him - Father Hottie was put on this earth to provide HOT PAPI LOVIN'!


The celibacy requirement also provided a convenient cover for generations of closeted gay men. The Priesthood was one of the only opportunities for a (closeted) gay man to become an esteemed member of the community (and conveniently, they WEREN'T ALLOWED to get married). We all know how well that worked out.

Anywhoo, if Padre Cutié decides that women aren't his thing after all, he should definitely give me a call ...
