Artists On The Rise: NBH (Natural Born Hustlers)
On The 6Th presents the group N.B.H (Natural Born Hustlers) take a moment and get to know the duo Ceasy-Leo and Russell.
In Ceasy-Leo's own words:
I'm Ceasy-Leo, I am the Co-Grinder of the phenomenal group N.B.H. (Natural Born Hustlers) from Belton, SC. I first started in the music back in July of 2007. Our very first project was a mixtape we called "Welcome to da Circle" and it seems like it was only yesterday.
Some people can say they been rapping since the age of 12, I can't say that I started at the age of 22 and I feel as though I'm getting better with every song. My proudest moment so far was the release our 2nd album "The Call to Duty" and it being sold in Best Buy stores and also made it onto Billboard.
Coming from a small town of Belton, SC and having your album in a major store independently is a huge accomplishment. I can't really live with regrets. If I would have to do it all over again I wouldn't change anything Russell and I make a great team.
I'm a easy going guy, laid back, relaxed, businessman, a true Scorpio. I wouldn't change anything about me I'm good with my personality how can you not like a guy like myself..
The best advice I've ever received from a person was from my dad, he told me not to stop doing what I like doing and stay focused. As long as you see the vision everyone else will see it soon enough. That's what I would tell the next person trying to pursue this career be ready for trials and tribulations and you will have to sacrifice some things to be successful and always do whats right for you and you'll be fine.
Right now we are still promoting the album "The Call to Duty" that's in stores and also on Itunes and also promoting our new single "Kawa-Sakee" video will be released soon.
In Russell's own words:
Well I'm ½ of the dynamic duo NBH, I'm a writer, actor and love the life of being in the entertainment business. I took my first stab into music back in 2007 at my cousin’s studio. I noticed my passion for music. The group's first project was a mixtape called “Welcome 2 The Circle” which consisted of studio tracks and freestyles of us taunting over industry instrumentals.
When I was 23 we had our first open mic performance at Club Senaro’s in Greenville, SC. I was sold on the fact that this is what I wanted to do! Just being able to attract attention with your thoughts transformed into lyrics sold me enough! My proudest moment would have to be when a young lady contacted me through facebook and told me that one of my songs literally saved her life. The title of the song is “Look at Yourself”. In this track, I as the gentleman is telling the beautiful women that they are more that what the guy portrays them to be or deserve better. This lady was actually on the suicidal thinking side when someone told her to listen to my song. Just to be able to feed this positivity through a song could do any artist good.
We plan on putting real hip hop in the forefront of a lot of uncreative and meaningless music that is drowning out the world right now!
I am one of the most down to earth people anyone would like to meet. I love living, laughing and taking one day at a time. I wouldn’t change a thing! If I did, I wouldn’t be Russell.
I was told by an engineer named Claude Booker, "if you cant keep a dollar turning in this business, then you are in the wrong business" This made us hustle hard and stay relative and keep revenue in the team’s pot at the same time. Advice I'd give to other artists, never give up, hustle, hustle, hustle. You have to love what you do, before what you are doing loves you back!
We are currently working on a movie that myself and my partner are playing major roles in titled “Child Support” due in theaters on September 2nd. Simultaneously we are also working on a new album.
