On The 6Th Proudly Presents TORICA a Grammy nominated, gifted singer/song writer/performer on the rise. Not too often do you find an artist as humble and down to earth like Torica. A good friend, a savvy business woman and a talented performer, what more could you ask for? She's also beautiful to top it all off. Take a moment and get to know this superstar in the making.
In her own words:
My real name is Torica, a lot of people think it was something I made up but its my real name. I've been singing since I was very young. I cultivated my performance skills through talent shows & singing at church.
I was introduced to the world by my featured hook on Field Mob's 'Sick of Being Lonely' produced by Jazze Pha. That record led me to work with various well-known artists and producers, such as, Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Teairra Mari, Jeezy, Jermaine Dupri, Gucci Mane, Monica, among others. My work has led to be contributing to over 1 million album sales as well as a Grammy nomination.
I knew from very early on that I had a knack for entertaining people. At family gatherings & holidays I was always the center of attention, making people laugh, I was always dancing & singing. I didn't have stage fright & didn't get nervous in front of small or large audiences. Whenever I had a mic in my hand, I always felt a rush and wanted to keep having that feeling again.
One of my most proud moments has been receiving a Grammy nomination, which signifies that other industry professionals voted and believed the song I was a part of deserved such an esteemed recognition. And one of my most proud moments personally was having my son, knowing I brought an innocent, beautiful human being into the world.
I'm working on my first studio album, which has been a long time coming, but I'm super excited to be able to do this at this moment in my life.
I don't have ANY regrets, everything I've done so far has only helped prepare me for where I am now.
Sometimes I wish I was born a Hilton, so my pockets will have a lot more cushion. Aside from not being born with a silver spoon I wouldn't change anything else LOL! Oh wait there is one thing, I wish I could eat what I wanted and not have to work out haha!
The best advice I can give anyone who's pursuing a music career is to work diligently and create as often as possible. Being consistent and maintaining good relationships will take you further than anything in this industry.
If I were caught in a scandal, it would be pulling a heist on the Jimmy Choo or Giuseppe Zanotti warehouse. I'd be on some espionage mission to tunnel into the building & take all the shoes I could without detection. LOL
My soul mate HAS to have a sense of humor and Coming To America has to be one of his favorite movies. Aside from he gots to be fine as hell! LOL
