Snowmageddon # 583

It is a MESS outside right now and if I never see another snowflake I'll be happy.

Snowmageddon Part Deux

I completely missed the first one (not one snowflake in Central PA during my Christmas vacay) - but this time I won't be so lucky.

BTW - they STILL haven't collected the garbage on my block since last year (SRSLY). What do you think the chances are that the Sanitation Department will pick it up before they transform into "Snow Removal Mode"?? Yeah ... pretty much ZERO.

The Day After - Coney Island Ave, Brooklyn

The picture above is becoming the iconic image of Blizageddon 2010 - showing abandoned cars, taxis and buses on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn the day after the storm. Now we have video ...

BTW: since when are there so many yellow cabs in Brooklyn??

It kind of reminds me of the 1983 TV Movie - The Day After  (below) - which depicted a nuclear holocaust and scared the crap outta me when I was in high school. Back then we weren't afraid of terrorists per se, but we were completely frightened of the big, bad Soviet Union and their nuclear arsenal. This ghost-town-like video of NYC creeps me out just the same as the movie did.

I Missed the Snowpocalypse

Here in Central Pennsylvania we didn't even get any flurries - but NYC was hit hard by Snowmageddon 2010 - with tons of transit drama and general mayhem. Across the Hudson River, in Belmar New Jersey, they got 32 inches of snow (!) - check out this time-lapse recording of all the white stuff:

I'm Missing Snowmageddon in NYC

The interwebz are all abuzz about the Snowpocalypse that's coming to NYC (SnOMG!). But here in Central Pennsylvania they are forecasting only some scattered flurries.

I was thinking about returning to the City on Tuesday - but because of the snow I think I'll wait until Wednesday. There's no rush - my boss isn't expecting me back at work until Jan. 3rd.

If things get really bad, I've found a dog sled team that could get the job done ...

"Snowacane" is Here ... SnOMG!!!

We've had wet snow all day here in NYC, which is supposed to continue through tomorrow when "hurricane force winds" will be added to the mix.  Therefore, news outlets are now referring to this storm as a "Snowacane"!

Or, as I like to call it, "Snowpocalypse III - in 3D"!

SNOWnami In NYC!!

Actually, more like a SLUSHnami.  Walking to the subway (about 5 blocks) wasn't a problem this morning - there was some wet snow falling and some slush on the ground, but it was manageable.  Believe it or not, right now the snow has temporarily stopped here in Manhattan.  But local meteorologists still predict blizzard conditions for this afternoon and tonight - leaving 12-18 inches of total snowfall.

Who else has snow right now?...
