I Are The Champions !

That's right, Biatches - I won MikeInBama's College Football Pick 'Em Challenge! Unfortunately my win doesn't entitle me to anything besides bragging rights - so my ass is gonna brag a little bit ...

Mike does this football challenge every year, and invites his blogger buddies to join. It's all done through ESPN.com - where they post 10 college football games each week, and the contest participants pick the winners. No over/under/point spreads - thank goodness, 'cause I have no idea what that is.

So all you have to do is pick the winner of 10 games each week. And usually I do pretty well until about mid-way through the 14-week challenge. But this year I ended up LEADING mid-way, when in the past I had crashed and burned.

This prompted me to start doing some homework and a little research on each week's team matchups. Previously, I just went down the list and picked - sometimes at random. The only rules I had were that I ALWAYS picked Penn State (my alma mater) to win, and Notre Dame and Pitt to lose. Always - even if the odds were against me.

This strategy, plus some dumb luck and a (very) little bit of knowledge did the trick - after 14 weeks I have been crowned the winner. See the results HERE.

"I would like to thank God, the Academy, my Agent, and the good people at Arby's - without whom this win would not have been possible..."

Football Season Is Almost Here

Are you a college football fan? If so, go to DustBunny MikeInBama's BLOG and sign up for his annual College Football Pick 'Em Challenge. All I know about college football is that I love Penn State and hate Pitt and Notre Dame - but that's enough to get me to do it each year.

Go HERE for more information, and see if you can beat me by the end of the season. Spoiler Alert: you totally can.

Picture of the Year - "Peace, Biatch!"

I realize that 2010 is only two days old - but I've already found the most awesome picture of the year.  Check out Miss Thang GIVING US the DavidDust patented ">P,B!" sign - and giving it to us GOOD.  OMG - I need to turn this into a t-shirt.

Thanks to MikeInBama for sending this to me.

>P,B!

SnOMG!

So, it turns out we received about 8-10 inches of snow in my neighborhood, not the 12+ inches that had been expected.  The streets are already clear - and life is pretty much back to normal here in NYC.  Snowmageddon didn't happen after all.

The Snow Bunny above, BTW, was found over at MikeInBama's LiveJournal.

Literal Video Version - Love Is A Battlefield

Back in June I posted the "Literal Video Version" of Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. Yesterday MikeInBama posted the another one - this time of Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield. Whoever does these videos is absolutely brilliant!

Stop By Anytime

Any time you find yourself on Butt Hole Road (where I have a home), stop by and visit. And please use the BACK door...

BTW - the above idea was blatantly stolen from my Pittsburgh blogger buddy Dwight Supremacy. Dearest Dwight: Even though I grew up rooting for the Eagles, I have to go with the Pennsyltucky team in the Super Bowl. Go Steelers!

Photo above stolen from Mike In Bama. One of these days I'll post something original - I promise.

Manhattan Diner Is Alabama-Bound

The Cheyenne Diner stood at the corner of 33rd Street and 9th Avenue here in Manhattan for the past 68 years, but soon it will be headed to Birmingham Alabama. The beloved diner closed last year to make room for - everybody sing! - a friggin' condominium building.

Originally the Cheyenne was to be relocated across the East River to Red Hook, Brooklyn. But when the buyer found out the diner wouldn't fit on the Manhattan Bridge (and sending it via barge was too expensive) - he gave up on the plan. Apparently it's cheaper to ship the 2,000-square-foot structure to Alabama than it is to ship it within New York City. Go figure.

The railroad-style, Art Deco diner was one of those jewels you just don't appreciate until it's gone. I am hoping that Dust Bunny Mike In Bama will visit the Cheyenne when it reopens in his home state. And please eat something fattening there in my honor.
