Chita, Rita & The Divine Miss M

I was searching YouTube for a clip to post in honor of Chita Rivera's 79th birthday (which is today), and I came across this little gem. Check out Chita Rivera, Rita Moreno and Bette Midler performing "America" from West Side Story - it's a Broadway Queen's dream!

This Might Be My Gayest Post Ever

The annual Kennedy Center Honors were held on Sunday night in Washington, D.C. - and a Who's Who of A-List stars attended. And by "A-List" I actually mean "Grand Divas Who Make Most Gay Men Squeeeeeeeeee!".

First off, we have THE BOSS - Miss Diana Ross. She is showing the children how a Diva does it... Cute arm candy (actually, her son Evan, but that still counts), FLOOR LENGTH fur coat (PETA be damned), and her 2007 Kennedy Center Honoree medal (lest anyone forget). THIS is how it's done, please make a note of it ...

Second, we have the legendary Chita Rivera. I saw Chita in Kiss of the Spider Woman on Broadway, and although she was 60 years-old at the time Chita scurried around on that big onstage spider web like a teenager...

Next up, we have a real-live SUPERHERO - Wonder Woman - AKA Lynda Carter. Although it looks like she lost part of the straps to her dress. Oh well - maybe the straps are invisible, like Wonder Woman's plane...

And last, but certainly not least, we have Dolly Levi herself - Carol Channing. In the dictionary under "Broadway Legend", there is a picture of Carol Channing trying to upstage Ethel Merman (or at least there should be). And before you diss our Diva's outfit and/or open-toe shoes - I'd like to remind you she is 89 years old. Another reminder: Show Queens can be quite vicious if you talk badly about their Divas...

And here's some adorable icing for this extremely gay cake ... Matthew Morrison (Glee's Mr. Schuester) performing an impromptu rendition of The Street Where You Live at the afterparty. Werq...

Happy Birthday Chita Rivera!

Happy belated birthday to Dolores Conchita Figueroa del Rivero.  Dolores, better known as Chita Rivera, turned 77 yesterday.  Happy Birthday!

I had the pleasure of seeing Chita perform on Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman in the early 90's, and she was AMAZING.  It's one of those things I will never forget.
