JCPenney Opens In Manhattan

Manhattan's first JCPenney opened on Friday, and I stopped by to see what I could see.

I became a JCPenney's shopper through Mama Bunny. There was a JCPenney store in my town - and Mom always took me there to buy school clothes (she even worked in the Catalog Department during a few Christmas seasons). I liked that Penney's didn't have a "Husky" Department for boys per se, like that evil horrible OTHER store of my childhood - Montgomery Ward. I always HATED when Mom dragged me into "Wards" for husky-size pants and those cheap-ass sneakers they sold. JCPenney's always seemed like a better shopping experience for me as a child - so I've remained loyal.

Anywhore, the Manhattan branch of JCP was crowded on the first day - despite torrential downpours outside. They have taken over the lower two floors of the Manhattan Mall - completely erasing all remnants of the Food Court (and of Manhattan's only Arby's). Sniff ... sniff ... I promised myself I wouldn't cry ...

JCPenney's doesn't have delicious roast beef, but they DO have ...


... a men's "Big and Tall" section. Believe it or not, no other department store in Manhattan has a section for Fat Boy clothes (not Bloomindales, not Lord & Taylor, and not even the gigantic flagship Macy's one block away). I guess it's not cool to cater to lard asses.

Thirsty?

This creeps me out a little ... a real Tru Blood beverage is coming out next month. It is described as a blood-orange carbonated beverage with a slightly tart and lightly sweet taste. I forsee every creepy weirdo in the world drinking Tru Blood for it's "shock value". And the Goth kids (are there still Goth kids?) are going to LOVE IT.

BTW, True Blood (the show, not the beverage) airs tonight on HBO - and things are getting REALLY interesting. With Sookie getting captured, Bill's Maker coming back, Jason hooking up with the Preacher's wife, and the whole Tara/Eggs/Marianne cult thing going on - I am ready for a few answers.

My absolute favorite True Blood character this season is Jessica. She cracks me up ...

Daddy of the Day - Dean Cain

The hottest Superman EVER, Dean Cain, turned 43 on Friday. Happy Birthday!

Dean Cain played "the attractive slut" (every group of friends has one) in the cheesy gay movie - The Broken Hearts Club. I just wish there would have been more Dean Cain ACK-SHON, if you smell what I'm stepping in. But alas, there wasn't much more than a Dean Cain kiss (clip below is dubbed in Spanish)...

Happy Birthday - Ashley Parker Angel

Former boy-bander, reality TV star, and Broadway performer (Hairspray) Ashely Parker Angel turns 27 today. Happy Birthday.

Some of you will remember first seeing Ashley Parker Angel on the original Making of the Band (pre-P Diddy) when the boy band O-Town was formed.

I must say, Ashley has aged well (Lord - as if 27 is "aged"!), but I was always more of a fan of Erik-Michael Estrada. I know, you're SHOCKED ...

But my absolute favorite O-Towner was/is Trevor Penick. Oooooohhhh, that boy could MOVE...
