Jersey Shore Causing Drama at MTV

According to Fox News (via Joe.My.God), MTV's Jersey Shore (my newest GUILTY PLEASURE) has caused some major drama at the network. Specifically, Domino's Pizza has pulled out as an advertiser, and some of the MTV publicity staff have received death threats - prompting the network to hire extra security.

The main complaint about the show has been the portrayal of the self-described "guidos and guidettes". Italian-American groups have protested the shows stereotypical portrayal of the cast as sex obsessed, party-obsessed and vain idiots.

Meanwhile, according to Pink Is The New Blog, cast-member Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino (above) vehemently defends his right to be a self-proclaimed “guido” and explains how the term is, in his mind, a compliment
"If you do see the show, you see it used in a loving or a good way. The older generation doesn't understand. These days in New York and New Jersey a 'guido' is a good-looking Italian male that likes to have fun and a 'guidette is a good-looking Italian girl."

Whatever Dude ... just keep your shirt off and we'll be just fine.
