Artist On The Rise: Kire Senoj
On The 6th presents: Artist On The Rise Author Kire Senoj
Take a minute and get to know Kire:
In his own words:
My name is Kire Senoj (pronounced Ky-ree Sa-Nauge) Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, but for the last 18 years I’ve called Chicago, IL home. I was born under the sign of Libra, but I have some traits of a Scorpio.
Growing up I had ups and downs like anyone else, but I also had a lot of fun. I am an only child and I had imaginary friends to play with whenever my cousins weren’t around. My downs were caused mainly by not having the best relationship with my father who was so disappointed in me for being overweight. It was extremely painful, but my mother; who is also one of my best friends, was there to pick up the pieces.
Right now, I’m working on my novel which is a continuation of the last short story in my book My Mind’s Eye vol.1: Life, Pain & Love. My Mind’s Eye vol.1: Life, Pain & Love is a book of poetry and short stories that was released in October of 2011. That was a major accomplishment! Also becoming a magazine writer; once I took writing seriously I wanted the chance to become a writer for something that I enjoy and writing for A Music Experience Magazine provides me the pleasure and enjoyment I set out to accomplish; thank you Dedry Jones for the opportunity.
Most pivotal moment in my career thus far I have to say is the release of my self published book My Mind’s Eye vol.1:Life, Pain & Love. Watching a dream become a reality is magical; and I must say this is only the beginning.
My favorite quote is ’I'm a wanna be turned gonna be turned I AM!”- Kelly Price
I also love “Pitch has become an option!”- Lalah Hathaway
That one cracks me up, but it’s the truth.com
I think about what it is I want to convey, then I write or jot down fragments and sentences and then I add and subtract some things and put it all together.
I’m inspired by GOD, people, what I see on the news or when I’m out and about, life’s experiences and any and all things I consider beautiful. I’m also inspired by other writers such as Musiq Soulchild, Pearl Cleage, Kelly Price, Deana Dean (my mentor), Rahsaan Patterson, Maya Angelou and E. Lynn Harris; I’m inspired by writers who write straight from their soul.
I was determined to be a singer! It was all I thought and daydreamed about. I was infatuated with Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan and The Emotions. The only male that captured my attention in this same capacity was Luther Vandross! I use to stand in front of the record player and lip sync (for my life) with anything resembling a microphone. HA! DON’T JUDGE ME!
Currently I’m also working on my upcoming blog talk radio show which is titled “You Never Know with Kire! Feat. Miss Lisa & Vincent Durham.” Debuting April 11th. It’s going to be a fun show filled with discussion topics including Relationships, Politics, Music, Physical and Mental Health, and a variety of everything in between along with Miss Lisa’s Dirty Dish (Celeb Gossip). We’ll also feature music, musical guest and other guest. On our show we will ONLY FEATURE REAL MUSIC TALENT! In other words you have to know how to sing in order to be invited.
I listen to Lalah Hathaway, Rahsaan Patterson, Ledisi, Kim Burrell, Dana Gilmore (Poet), Kelly Price, Dave Hollister, Lil Mo, SWV (so glad they’re back), Kierra Sheard, Adrianne Archie, John Coltrane, Taalam Acey (Poet), Maroon 5, Ella Fitzgerald, Robert Glasper, Fred Hammond, Syleena Johnson, Donnie, Bonnie Raitt, Adele, Jennifer Hudson, Erykah Badu, Donny Hathaway, Luther Vandross, and the Greatest Female Vocalist to grace the planet…CHAKA KHAN! There are others, but this is just a few.
I would love to add songwriter/lyricist to my resume’. I’d love to write for some of the artists I just mentioned.
In 5 years…Hmmm… In 5 years, I WILL be in another phase of my writing career and my radio show. I’ll have written song lyrics for some established artists and my radio show will have gone from blog talk to satellite and syndication. I’ll also either be in the works or will have opened a help center on the South side of Chicago for at risk youth/teens and young adults. That is a goal of mine; Our young people are crying out for help and we need to step up to the plate and take action.
I’m comedic, sarcastic (at times), and jovial. What I like about myself is the same thing I sometimes dislike and that’s my kindness. I like it because that’s how GOD made me and how my mother raised me and nowadays kindness is a rarity. I dislike it because people will take advantage of your kindness (if you allow them) and often times they mistake it for weakness and weak is something that I am far from.
Do I allow other opinions about me affect me in anyway? Not at all, People are going to think what they want to think, believe what they choose to believe and say what they want to say about you. I have to live for GOD and myself
