News: Steve Harvey New Daytime Talk Show Host

A nationally syndicated morning radio show, a long-standing game show franchise, two best-selling books and more than two dozen stand-up dates per year: all of this is just the opening act for Steve Harvey's main event.

He will now launch a new daytime talk show on NBC starting next fall, reports the New York Post. He describes the show, which he says will have an emphasis on "everyday people" rather than celebrities, as "Oprah, with a sense of humor."

The talk show will be the fulfillment of a long-standing dream for Harvey, who worked on the margins of the comedy scene for years before breaking through to major success with Black audiences. Now, he will have the chance to reach a larger, mainstream audience by filling the void left by Oprah in the network talk show scene since her departure from the airwaves last May.
