News: Celtics Jeff Green Can't Play Due to Heart Condition

Jeff Green recently agreed to a one-year deal to stay with the Boston Celtics for a reported $9 million. However, in a strange twist of fate, his training camp physical could very well have saved his life.

While the Celtics were heading to Toronto for an exhibition game against the Raptors on Saturday, they announced an aortic aneurysm was found in the 25-year-old’s heart. The Washington Post reports the forward will have reparative surgery at the Cleveland Clinic on Monday and should make a full recover. Nevertheless, this is a done season for the athlete.

Speaking to his supporters via Twitter, the Maryland native wrote, “Thank u everyone for ur thoughts and prayers ... much appreciated love u all .. and I'll be back soon stronger and better than ever I promise.”

Reports say he should be able to return to the game next season
