In own words:
I am the VP of Media Relations for 2R's Entertainment & Media PR, a boutique PR agency out of NYC. We specialize in media placement, branding opportunities and in a nut shell, great publicity for our clients.
My early beginnings in the industry is a bit different than for others. I am a former dancer, and danced for the likes of Immature, TLC, Brandy, Jon Secada and more others, so when I dislocated my back dancing, things took a turn. I ended up working with some of the record labels that I had danced for and with relationships I was given an opportunity to work for Arista which then turned to working with LaFace as a Regional Manager for the Southeast and so forth. In doing such work by being on the road with the likes of Usher, OutKast, Toni Braxton, and Az Yet, I knew that PR was where I wanted to be. So, I eventually started thinking of what that department itself consisted of and went from there.
I had just turned 21 years old when I went on my first tour with Platinum group 69Boyz and Quad City Dj's. It was an interesting experience, but I would not change it for the world. A blessing indeed!
I have had many proud moments in my career as I still consider myself a corn-ball. lol...It does not matter how big or small the placement is, I still celebrate it as its HUGE. They are all a big deal to me, because I look at it as the journalist does not owe myself nor my client anything and for them to write about the project, its a blessing. But I would have to say, when back in the 90's there was a "Dance Craze" Macarena and 'Cmon Ride The Train and we were able to book the Oprah Winfrey show. I LOVE Oprah and by being soooo young and going through the evolution of life and meeting her, was simply OUTSTANDING at that point in my life
I would like to represent a Top 10 company. Meaning have a team working with the likes of an Apple/Microsoft/BMW on a strategic PR/Marketing campaign and simply TURN IT OUT! lol
So, I have learned to embrace my mistakes and simply take responsibility for them and hopefully not do them again. One thing I wish I would have done earlier is have had a business manager in place for my business and would have avoided getting "got" a few times lol.
As mentioned earlier, I am a cornball, I am a loving, loyal, spiritual individual and loves hard. I love my family and my friends and I am very protective of them as They mean everything to me! I like to have fun, travel, eat ( a huge foodie), but I rather have a few extra cocktails than eating at times for the sake of calories LMAO. Real talk, I am just a man with a dream that has an inner passion, drive and motivating force with-in me for my career. I am afraid of a few things and they include (death and failure). My motto is "I will not fail. God did not bring me this far to be a looser".
One of my mentors, once told me this.. "No matter what you want in life you must go and fight for it and when I say fight, I mean FIGHT". I at that time laughed it off and it was not until I really had to fight for something that it made sense. So, no matter what field you are trying to get into, simply FIGHT for it. Don't just show up...I like to say "Show Up and Show OUT". Show you/them/the world you are willing to fight for the spot. Even if you don't get it, you know deep inside "you did that" and they were just not worthy of you.
What are you currently working on? We are currently preparing for DAY26's 3rd album "A New Day" later this fall, AVREY SMITH (R&B Recording Artist signed to Willie Taylor's label), Pop/Soul/Rock Multi-Grammy Nominated recording artist B. SLADE. Also working with Hip hop artist VAIN who released his mixtape "All Ghetto". We are also still representing Male Supermodel Miguel Perdomo and NIK PACE aside from a few things that will be announced shortly :)
