Is Gaga Moving To Amish Country?

This story was all over the news while I was in Central Pennsylvania for Christmas: Lady Gaga might be buying a house in Amish Country.

From Curbed:
The pop mega-star, whose primary home is a rental in Bel Air, Calif., has been seen touring a $1.7M manor-style house in Lititz, Pa., of all places—her boyfriend, Taylor Kinney, grew up there and his parents own the place next door. The place, totaling 6,000 square feet, was built in 2006 and has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a formal dining room, two kitchens, and buttoned-up interior details such as crown moldings, wood banisters, built-ins, and marble floors.

If Gaga bought the place and decided she wanted to have a drink with The Gays, the Tally Ho Tavern (AKA "The Tacky Ho")  is just down the road in Lancaster. Yes Virginia, there IS a Gay Bar in the midst of Amish Country

Perform This Way

Weird Al Yankovic's Lady Gaga parody - Perform This Way (which almost didn't happen) - has finally been released. All proceeds from the single and video benefit the Human Rights Campaign. Note: is it just me or does Weird Al in drag look an awful lot like Hedda Lettuce??

My favorite part:

I might be wearing Swiss cheese,
or maybe covered with bees.
It doesn't mean I'm crazy,
I perform this way.

Little Monsters Invade Central Park

Lady Gaga kicked off the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series on Friday with a performance in Central Park. And as we all know, where Mama Monster goes - the Little Monsters will follow.

Hunky Jesus - Rick Gonzalez

Those of you who check out my blog regularly will find this as no surprise. But my absolute first thought while watching Lady Gaga's video for Judas was "Guuuurrrrrrlll - who is Hot Papi Jeebus?????

After a quick check of the innerwebz, I learned that our Lord and Savior is played by actor Rick Gonzalez. Gonzalez - who is of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent - was born and raised in NYC, where he attended the High School of the Performing Arts (better known at the Fame school). Rick is perhaps best known for his roles as Timo Cruz in the motion picture Coach Carter, and as Ben Gonzalez on the CW television series Reaper.

Now THIS is a Jesus (or is it "Hay ZEUS"?) who could convince me to attend church.

Gaga Shoots Down Weird Al's "Perform This Way"

Weird Al Yankovic has created a spoof of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" (called "Perform This Way"), and Mama Monster is NOT amused.

From HuffPo:
On his blog, Yankovic explains that Lady Gaga insisted on hearing the song before giving her blessing, which he claims was unprecedented in his career. Although all profits from the song were to have been donated to the Human Rights Campaign (in a nod to the original song's intention as an "earnest human rights anthem"), Gaga turned down the parody upon hearing it. (While parody artists are protected under the First Amendment, Yankovic traditionally requests permission from the artists he spoofs.)
I think it's pretty funny - check it out for yourself:

UPDATE (via Dlisted): Weird Al updated his blog to say that Lady Gaga's Manager admitted to him that he never played the song for her. Gaga has since heard it, approved it and it will go on his next album. Weird Al has also kept his promise and will donate profits to the HRC.

Gay Icon Overload

Liza with a "Z" attended Lady Gaga's Madison Square Garden concert last night - and the two later met backstage. All they needed were Madonna, Bette, Cher, Kylie, Barbra (thanks Doug!) and Miss Ross and they could have held a meeting of the Gay Icon Justice League.

Afternoon Gaga Break - Born This Way

Lady Gaga released her big "gay anthem" this morning - and it seems that many are talking smack. Blah blah blah ... you don't write "gay anthems", songs BECOME gay anthems ... blah blah blah ... it's a repackaged version of Madonna's Respect Yourself ... blah blah blah...

Personally, I think it's catchy - like most Gaga tunes. And if you plan on being in a gay bar over the next six months, prepare to hear it. A lot.

Have a listen:

Surprise Lady Gaga Appearance at The Plaza

From Towleroad:
Lady Gaga surprised audience members at the Plaza Hotel's Oak Room in New York [this week] when she showed up at the concert of her friend, jazz musician Brian Newman, to perform a few songs.
Watch her sing "Someone to Watch Over Me" ...

Lady Gaga Will Rally Against McCain DADT Filibuster in Maine Tomorrow

Lady Gaga will rally in Portland Maine tomorrow against John McCain's filibuster of the Defense Authorization. It is a push to force Maine's relatively moderate Republican Senators - Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins - to join Democrats and end the Senate filibuster, bringing the bill (which contains a provision to end Don't Ask Don't Tell) to the floor of the Senate for a vote.

According to the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), the 60 votes to end the filibuster are NOT in place - so support fromSnowe and Collins  is crucial.  Via AmericaBlog
The votes to break McCain’s filibuster are not there. We need Sens. Snowe and Collins on board; they’re key to us breaking the filibuster. With the vote less than 48 hours away, we need everyone supporting repeal to call the Senate. We’re bringing gay and straight service members to Portland to help make the case. And we’re proud to have the support of Lady Gaga to bring grassroots attention to repeal at a critical hour. Like Lady Gaga, all New England senators, indeed all 100 senators, Democrats and Republicans, need to engage in a real debate on this issue, and not just posture and spin this week over procedure and Senate rules.

The rally, called “For the 14,000”: A Rally for the 14,000+ Discharged" is tomorrow at 4:00 PM Eastern in Deering Oaks Park (near the University of Southern Maine). For those on Twitter, the hashtag is #4the14k.

Gaga/Madonna - Tribute or Something Else???

I saw this great video over at Daventry Blue, and thought I'd post it as well.  It shows many of the similarities between Lady Gaga's videos and Madonna's work - I had no idea there were so many.

Now before you Gaga Monsters start screaming "I'M SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE SAYING LADY GAGA RIPS OFF MADONNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - just chill out.  I'm a reformed Gaga fan, so I have no agenda here.

What do YOU think - is Lady Gaga's career one big tribute to The Material Girl, or has she crossed over into plagiarism territory??

BTW - I LOVE the Madonna song which accompanies this video. It's so ironic in this context.

Lady Gaga Is NOT a Met's Fan...

Stefani Germanotta (AKA Lady Gaga) decided to take herself out to the old ball game last night - causing a ruckus at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. I know, who would have expected shy and quiet Stef to go to a public venue (one with plenty of photographers) - and make a scene??? It is SO unlike her.

According to Gothamist:
She showed up during the 5th inning with "very little makeup and a skimpy outfit" (more specifically, the bra she dons in her "Telephone" video). She was allegedly upset that the photographers, there to shoot the game, were so close to her front row seats, and had a bit of a meltdown when they turned their cameras on her. She eventually escaped to Jerry Seinfeld's luxury box, because—according to one of the Post's sources—"having them take pictures of her all game would've been annoying to all the fans. That was going to ruin it for everyone."

But apparently Gaga didn't like the fact that fewer people paid attention to her in the Seinfeld box, so:
She made out with a woman, stripped down to just her bedazzled undies, and gave everyone who looked her way the double finger, all the while screaming obscenities.
Perhaps she's a Yankees fan???...

Happy Birthday to Lady Gaga

The artist I used to hate (and refer to as "Lady Caca") but whom now I love - Lady Gaga - turns 24 today.  And  as you can see by her TWEET (above), she ain't going anywhere.  Happy Birthday!!

For your afternoon musical enjoyment, here is one of my favorite Gaga songs - Paparazzi...
