Hairdresser To Governor: "You're Fired"

Girl, those bangs could use a trim.

Don't mess with a scissor-wielding Queen. New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (above) recently learned this the hard way.

You see, Gov. Martinez doesn't support marriage equality. She's one of those "between a man and a woman blah blah blah" mouthbreathers.

Her (former) hair stylist - Antonio Darden (above) - begs to differ. Mr. Darden has been with his partner for 15 years and cannot legally marry because of politicians like Gov. Martinez. So Antonio decided to take a stand and hit her where it hurts most - in her HAIRDO.

After cutting the Governor's hair 3 times, her people called to schedule another appointment. But this time Antonio said "Thanks but no thanks, I no longer do Neanderthals with bangs". They even called back to see if he would reconsider, but Darden stuck to his (blowdrying) guns and didn't back down.

The moral of the story? Support marriage equality or your hair will be ugly. Forever.

Looks Like I'm Not The Only Fan Of Arby's

Longtime DustBunnies know that my favorite fine-dining experience is, and will always be, Arby's. But I may have to reassess my feelings toward Roast Beef Heaven, because Rick 'Don't Google Me' Santorum is also a fan of of my fave Roast Bistro! Quelle horreur!!!

This, apparently, is an old story - but it's new to me. Back in 2008, Santorum (ewwww) came (ewwww) under scrutiny for using his political action committee to pay his daily living expenses...

The PAC has paid for hundreds of meals over a five-year period. Some of those were at expensive, upscale restaurants like the Capital Grille restaurants in Philadelphia and in Washington, D.C. But what jumps out from the PAC's thousands of pages of reports are all the small meals.
Arby's, the fast-food chain specializing in roast-beef sandwiches, has been a particular favorite. Eleven Arby's meals, totaling $118.25, were charged to the PAC -- eight of them in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, a small town on U.S. 15 south of Harrisburg.

I'VE BEEN TO THAT ARBY'S!!! OMG - I feel unclean ... must gargle some Purell...

A Surge Of Santorum!

They're gonna need lots of Baby Wipes, Purell and new bed sheets in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado - reports say that Santorum surged in those three states yesterday. Which can't be good for anybody...

Mitt & Newt: Struggling; Janitors: Filthy Rich

From Daily Kos:

Newt Gingrich:
"New York City pays their janitors an absurd amount of money because of the union. You could take one janitor and hire 30-some kids to work in the school for the price of one janitor, and those 30 kids would be a lot less likely to drop out."
What is the absurd salary of those New York City janitors? $37,710, after two years on the job.

Mitt Romney:
"And then I get speaker’s fees from time to time, but not very much."
What is the pittance that Romney received from speeches? $362,000.

So to recap, a gazillionaire vulture capitalist making ten times that much from nine speeches is "not very much." And a "historian" making $1.8 million for providing "advice" to Freddie Mac, at an hourly rate of $27,500 is perfectly okay. Tiffanys isn't a charity!

But if a union member makes $37,710 per year, in freakin' New York City, that's "absurdly high".

P.S. That salary is roughly half the median salary in Manhattan.

The 'Cain Train' Comes To A Screeching Halt

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!! The most hilarious Republican EVAH has just bowed out of the presidential nomination race, and late-night comedians (and bloggers) everywhere weep bitter tears of sorrow.

RELATED: did anyone else think it was weird that Cain had to "scheduled a meeting" with his own wife to discuss all of his drama?? I wouldn't be surprised if the 'D-I-V-O-R-C-E Train' is the next locomotive Herman Cain will be riding.

Republican Honey Badgers

The New York Times (via DailyKos) eviscerates House Republicans today for their irresponsible behavior during debt ceiling talks:
House Republicans have lost sight of the country’s welfare. It’s hard to conclude anything else from their latest actions, including the House speaker’s dismissal of President Obama’s plea for compromise Monday night. They have largely succeeded in their campaign to ransom America’s economy for the biggest spending cuts in a generation. They have warped an exercise in paying off current debt into an argument about future spending. Yet, when they win another concession, they walk away.
This increasingly reckless game has pushed the nation to the brink of ruinous default. The Republicans have dimmed the futures of millions of jobless Americans, whose hopes for work grow more out of reach as government job programs are cut and interest rates begin to rise. They have made the federal government a laughingstock around the globe.

It's becoming more and more evident Tea Party Republicans are like the Honey Badger: they just don't give a shit - about this country, its people and/or our economic well-being.

This Time Weiner Has Gone TOO FAR

I can forgive the sexting, and lying, the bad judgement and the hubris. But CARNATIONS?? Oh no he di-int!!!

Rupert Murdoch "news" outlets The Daily and the New York Post are all over this story about Anthony Weiner buying cheap flowers at a Queens bodega - presumably for his scorned wife. Which I initially though was adding insult to injury until I read this sentence:
A clerk ... identified Weiner's peace offering as orange roses, white carnations and blue agapanthuses.

Carnations?!? WHITE carnations?!?!!!

THAT, Mr. Weiner, is completely unacceptable.
