Blame Amber

Yesterday started out kind of crappy, however - much to my surprise and delight - it ended quite wonderfully.

"Why is that", you ask?? I blame Amber!

Last night I got to meet one of my oldest MOST ESTABLISHED blog friends - Miss Amber LeMay. Amber is on a whilwind tour of NYC and we finally arranged to meet. Accompanying her for dinner was none other than Russell D - part of the RJD Productions team responsible for the look of this blog. Russell is also the person Amber and I call when our "computer thingy is broken". Poor dear.

However, there will be NO photographs published of this magical evening. For one thing, a lady doesn't have her picture taken when she's as fat as I am. Look at what happened to Liz Taylor (God rest her eternal soul) - the poor woman never DID live that down.

Besides, Amber was deep undercover (and that girl can go DEEP) - posing as some fabulous dude named "Bob". It was an ingeneous disguise designed to fool the paparazzi who had gathered outside the restaurant, trying to snap her picture. And her "Bob" drag worked like a charm.

So, if I have anyone to "blame" for my much-better frame of mind today, I'm blaming Amber LeMay. And Russell, of course ...

Comment Of The Week

Amber LeMay - of the fabled House of LeMay - cracked me up yesterday with one of her comments. Her words written in response to THIS "Can" post...

... and referenced THIS "PostalPapi" post...

And here's what Amber had to say:
"Hmmm... if only he NEW a MAN who was a postal employee (the handsome man from the previous post?) who could take his USPS truck to Michigan where he could get twice as much back... just sayin'."

The absolute best comments are the ones which make me go "DAMN! Why didn't I think of that?!?" And as a huge Seinfeld fan, that's exactly the reaction I had after reading what Amber's hysterical words.

Amber LeMay Is Such a Doll

Darling DustBunny Amber LeMay needs our help - she is trying to become a Bobblehead for a baseball team.  Now get your minds out of the gutter, biatches.

The Vermont Lake Monsters minor league baseball team is having a contest.  They are looking for a Vermonter to immortalize in plastic and turn into a Bobblehead doll, which will be given out at their stadium on August 27th.  How cool would it be for that Bobblehead to be sporting a wig and tasteful jewelry?!?

Amber LeMay is one of the founders of Vermont's premiere drag troupe - the House of LeMay.  So she definitely satisfies the requirement that the winner have ties to Vermont.  In fact, I'd bet Amber has tied up quite a few (male) Vermonters.  And I'm sure the liquor store clerks in Amber's hometown of Beaver Pond will vouch for her DEEP commitment to the community.

Go HERE to check out Amber's blog post about the contest - but more importantly, go HERE and nominate Amber for plastic superstardom.

On a personal note, I would like to thank Amber (and Bob) for always being there for me.  XOXOXOXO

Winter Is A Drag Ball

Our favorite maple-scented drag divas from Vermont - The House of LeMay - held their 15th annual Winter Is A Drag Ball this past Saturday in South Burlington, and a good time was had by all.  Congratulations to the girls for raising over $13,000 for the Vermont People with AIDS Coalition.

"Name Your Gay Superhero" Contest

In my last post I wrote about a bunch of anti-gay groups forming into one giant ball of vile hatred, in order to fight the "homosexual agenda". In that post I wondered what gay superhero would answer the call when we activated the "Gay Bat-Signal"...

Amber LeMay had a great idea - she is offering a FREE copy of Slingbacks and Syrup (the documentary about the House of LeMay) for anyone who can come up with a fierce gay superhero.

I will start, even though I'm ineligible to win - I already own a copy of the fabulous Slingbacks and Syrup!...

My gay superhero's name would be Miss Spent Youth. She is a drag queen, and her secret power is the ability to age a Ho 50 years with her withering gaze and a wave of her gloved hand.

Who is YOUR gay superhero? Leave a comment to be entered in the contest. Amber will select the winner, since she is providing the prize ...

Arby's Blogging

The last time I had Arby's was when I was visiting the family in Pennsylvania at Christmas - so I rely on my Dust Bunnies to keep me in the Arby's loop. Remember Miss Ginger's ACROBATIC PHOTOGRAPHY in the name of Roast Beef? It earned her a Dust Bunny of the Week Award.

I get a kick every time one of you sends me an email that says "I went to Arby's today, and thought of you". You have NO IDEA how often I get that email - and I love it each time. But I'm going to ask you all a favor - TAKE A PICTURE OF YOURSELF AT ARBY'S THE NEXT TIME YOU ARE THERE. Preferably with a big-ass Roast Beef in your hand. And if you're by yourself, don't ask the Curly Fry Ho to take your picture - they'll grease up your equipment. It will be a fun way for us to see what everyone else looks like - and all cute pictures of Dust Bunnies with Arby's meat will get posted on my blog. Send your Arby's pics to daviddust@gmail.com.

Dust Bunny Amber Lemay didn't send me a picture of herself at Arby's (she seems more like a KFC kinda gal anyway) - but Amber DID send me some Arby's funny crap yesterday...

FYI: Arby's is hiring gals/guys with great tits. AS LONG AS THEY STAY THE F*CK AWAY FROM MY GAIL SIMMONS...

And this is their newest ad campaign proves this. This was INSPIRED by Gail Simmons...

Anyone remember Arby's OLD ad campaign?...

Well, they must have run out of money and decided to go REALLY low-tech with this approach. Just a billboard and a balloon with a really long string...

Wait ... "Dagmar" is the name of a Meteorologist? Seriously? Lordy - that could be the name of the newest sandwich at Arby's. "I'll take the Dagmar & Cheddar with a side of Curly Fries". Sounds kinda good.

Slingbacks And Syrup

I have just seen the feel-good documentary of the decade! Slingbacks and Syrup, starring our very own Dust Bunny Amber LeMay (below), was recently a huge hit at the Vermont International Film Festival - and I can see why. It is funny, touching, and extremely entertaining. By the way - this was the only picture I could find where our dear Amber didn't have a drink in her hand...

Anywhoo, the documentary follows the "ladies" of the House of LeMay, a troupe of drag queens from the fictional Hot Damn Trailer Park in the fictional town of Beaver Pond, VT. The LeMay's story is told by filmmaker/director Russell Dreher, who met the LeMays during his graduate studies in Burlington, VT. Dreher tells us how this troupe of hilarious, outrageous, and GORGEOUS performers changed his life through their friendship.

We meet (from left to right, below) Lucy Belle LeMay, Amber, Marguarite LeMay, and Liza Little. We also get to meet the real men behind the mascara - and all the behind-the-scenes work they do to raise money and awareness for various charities and good causes.

For more information about the movie, go to the website HERE. And for more information on the House of Lemay (including their wonderful blog), click HERE.

Better yet - go HERE and purchase a copy of Slingbacks and Syrup for the drag queen/performer/glamour bitch in your life. It makes a perfect holiday gift or stocking stuffer.

Or, to purchase and watch on-line - go HERE. You'll be glad you did.

XOXO
