NBA Star Drops Lawsuit Against "Basketball Wives La" Star

Just months after getting engaged to his baby mama, NBA star Gilbert Arenas decided he wants to drop his lawsuit over her reality show "Basketball Wives: LA" but with one catch, he can bring it back any time he sees fit.

The Grizzlies star filed a suit over the VH1 series which featured Laura Govan claiming the show and his ex had no right to make money using his image without his permission.

Now he is asking the court to dismiss the suit coincidentally after his ex officially became his fiancée. But Arenas still wants to keep his right to bring it back whenever he wants, in case he feels exploited again or if they break up again.

Shed Media have fired back urging the court to dismiss the case permanently

A judge has yet to rule on the motions and Arenas has yet to rule on whether his fiancée can keep that title.

Laura Govan Goes In On Shaunie O'Neal

Laura Govan is featured in the upcoming February issue of "J’Adore" Magazine and she speaks extensively about her issues with Shaunie O’Neal, and how they led to her to joining the Basketball Wives L.A. cast and how her relationship with baller baby daddy Gilbert Arenas is going.

On Shaunie O’Neal:
“I don’t have a relationship with Shaunie and I never will. The information she was given about Shaq and I was false, and she took it and ran with it. I didn’t appreciate it at all and for that reason I will never speak to her again. If we see each other, I won’t chin check her, but that’s why I chose to do Basketball Wives LA. I wanted people to see exactly who I am opposed to what you heard on Season One: Miami. I mean, there were five grown women talking about me and they had no idea who I was. That was unfair, but it goes to show you where their mentality was.”

Laura is currently working on:

"My kids are my world! So right now I’m in the process of creating a product line for women & children. The line will include a workout DVD for new moms who’ve just given birth and want to lose their pregnancy weight, children books & more! A lot of people suggested I do stuff like write a book or cosmetics, etc. but I really wanted to do something that was true to me.”

On her relationship with Gilbert:

"We love each other. Yes, we have our ups and downs, but we have four kids together and like I tell most people, we are doing better than most married couples. I knew the person before I knew the athlete. Whether he still plays ball or not, I’m still going to be married to the person that I fell in love with. We’re not announcing the date yet. When we do, it will be small and intimate. We actually got engaged three years ago. That ring that everyone saw is three years old. If anything, he needs to upgrade that ring. We’ve been together for 10 years.”

News: Laura Govan Goes In On Draya

Laura Govan did an interview with a DC radio show speaking on being back with baby daddy Gilbert Arenas and also did not hesitate to hold her tongue about Basketball Wives L.A. cast mate Draya.

In her own words:

"I think Draya is a good person but Draya is a hustler. At the end of the day, I would classify her to be a groupie or a gold digger. She is what she is and she stays in her lane and I can’t knock her hustle and I don’t.

At the end of the day, we really don’t co-exist like I’m on the floor, you’re in the nose bleeds and I keep it moving. She’ll never have a house and I hope you do have a house one day but today ain’t gonna be the day or even messing with my man or anybody else’s man. Draya walks a fine line but she owns her lane and you have to respect that but at the end of the day, groupies and gold diggers don’t co-exist.

I don’t speak like she speaks, I don’t do what she does and she fits in that category so she stays there. I do feel like somebody is gonna save her. I mean after awhile, she’s always in the mix …I mean she’s dated a lot of athletes. She really has no ties or connections to this show. It is what it is but like I said, I’m not hating on her.

I’ve always been the type I never blame the woman, I used to and then I realized wait a minute, if you didn’t pull your pants down this broad wouldn’t even have nothing to say. I always blame the guy

I don’t look at the woman anymore and be like “Oh, you raunchy hoe!” For what? She’s just doing her job! She’s just staying in her lane trying to get that cheese when she’s hooked up with him or just trying to get her purse when she rocks with him so it is what it is"

So how did Laura start dating athletes? Makes you wonder what makes her better than Draya?

She goes on to talk about her small two bedroom apartment

"Let me tell you something don’t get it twisted. We were in a place just for a short period of time. “Oh my God, this is where she lives at?” Don’t get it twisted, come on y’all. I ain’t saying I’m a gold digger but I ain’t messing with no broke nigga. We are back together, We got black, ghetto, it’s crazy, dangerous in love… He asked me for some more kids and I was like “Listen, let’s take a break. We’ll go away a good five years and then we’ll get it back. We have four and the oldest is five… Although I met him almost ten years ago, I knew ten years ago he would be an amazing father. So that I pride myself on having a man who is an amazing dad."

No comment, lol then she switched gears up and talked about Shaq.

"I love Shaquille dearly, and he is a dear friend of mine. Did I ever hook up with him? Absolutely not, he’s not my type. If you ever went down a list of dudes I dated he ain’t one of them trust me and I know what he’s about but he is a good person. Let’s talk about something else"

So the list of dudes or athletes? Sounds a little like Draya huh ?

Heres Laura's thoughts about being labeled a gold digger.

"I feel like people need to understand that I paid my dues. I’ve been with this dude before he even had any money. I remember there was a time we were both out eating cheeseburgers and I had to pay. So don’t get it twisted that lasted for a long time and I loved him then and I love him now but I’m not going to defend that. Even if I was with another type of athlete or whatever the case may be, I’m always going to be classified as a gold digger but who has four kids with somebody, been with them ten years. it is what it is and speaks for its self. I don’t have to justify who I am or what I am. That’s really ignorant to say. I would never look at another woman and be like “You’re a groupie! You got four kids with somebody in ten years. Oh yeah, you’re a gold digger!” Shut up."

"BasketballWives LA" star Laura Govan has told Essence magazine that she is getting married to her on and off again NBA boyfriend father of her four children Gilbert Arenas.

ESSENCE.com: You refer to Gilbert as your fiancé. You two are back together?
Laura Govan: Yes, we are, and we plan to get married soon. When and where, I don’t know yet. I feel like we’re already married though, ten years, four kids later. People say he’s a mess, and I’m a mess. You know what, we’re each other’s messes. Everybody has breakup and make-up moments. It just so happens that ours is out in the public. You learn to grow. At this point in our lives Gilbert and I have been there, done that; the drama, the chaos. We’re older now, and we’re more mature. Now we’re better parents, and we’re taking the steps to make things better. Regardless of our past, we want our kids to see a good future.

Ooooh… sounds a little enabler-ish, doesn’t it?

ESSENCE.com: Gilbert had a lawsuit trying to stop you from being on the show. Why do you think he didn’t want you on it and why was it important for you to be on it?

Laura Govan: A lot of people don’t know that Gilbert is really shy. He didn’t want things about our family to be out there. But at the end of the day, things about our family are already out there so I thought let’s take control of the things we can. It was also important for me to do the show because, one, I wanted to do something on my own. I’m always in his shadow. Had it been to get a job at Target, I would have taken it, but since I was offered this opportunity, I took it.

NBA star Gilbert Arenas' ex-fiancee Laura Govan is free to talk and get in as many catfights as she wants on "Basketball Wives LA" thanks to a federal court decision today.

A judge ruled against the NBA star's request to block Laura Govan from appearing on the show and mentioning his name.

The judge said Gilbert's claim that details of his family life should not be aired on the reality show is undercut by the fact he has "tens of thousands of Twitter users who follow as he tweets about a variety of mundane occurrences."

Arenas has 51,103 Twitter followers. He and Govan have 4 children together.

News: NBA Star Gilbert Arenas Vs. BasketBall Wives

NBA star Gilbert Arenas wants a judge to pull the plug on "Basketball Wives: Los Angeles," claiming his baby mother Laura Govan is exploiting him by appearing on the show.

The Orlando Magic guard claims Laura Govan the mother of his 4 children signed up to do "Basketball Wives" solely to become a television personality.

He claims "the very presence of defendant Govan and the title of the show is an obvious reference to him" And Arenas notes his name was used in the press release announcing Govan had joined the cast.

Gilbert claims Govan and the producers have no right to use his name or likeness, expressed or implied so he's asking a judge to slap an injunction on the show so it can't air. He also wants cash for his troubles.
