Man's Best Friend

"You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, `My God, you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!'"

Happy 'Sundog' From Charlie

I just returned to Mama Bunny's house from a fun and refreshing weekend at the lake with my dad and brother. And now I'm frantically trying to catch up on the innerwebz, since I didn't have web access (or even cell phone service) the entire time.

So our regularly-scheduled Bunday is being replace by a 'Sundog' post, featuring my brother's pride and joy: Charlie. This is simply due to the fact that I have a bunch of Charlie pics on-hand right now, and no good Bunny pics to share while here at Casa Mama Bunny.

Here she is (yes, Charlie is a "she") fetching sticks.

Trying to figure out how to chew a turtle

On the boat. She LOVES the water and didn't stop swimming.

At the end of a busy day.

I know some of you will ask what breed she is: Charlie is a mutt. Her father was a Pit Bull and her mother was somewhat of a Ho (they suspect she has Rhodesian Ridgeback in there somewhere). She is the sweetest Goggie in the world and is spoiled rotten by my brother and Sister-In-Law.

Happy Sundog!

Man's Best Friend

“My dog, she looks at me sometimes with that look, and I think maybe deep down inside she must know exactly how I feel. But then maybe she just wants the food off my plate.”

“Some days you're the dog, some days you're the hydrant.”

“I hope if dogs take over the world, and they choose a king, they don't just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas.”

I Love Martha Stewart - Part 1,358

My love of Martha Stewart is well documented and knows no bounds. Mind you, I hate organizing, antiquing, crafts, cooking and all that other crap, but I LOVE Martha for doing it. It's almost like she specializes in things like dried floral arrangements just so I don't have to ever worry about them myself.

So I was horrified to find out last night that Martha had been attacked by her French Bulldog, Francesca (above). Actually, Martha is saying it was nothing but a big accident (via Gawker)...

As I leaned down to whisper goodbye to a dozing Francesca, I must have startled her, because she bolted upright with such force that she hit me in the face like a boxing glove hitting an opponent's face. I was entirely startled and my neck snapped back. I felt a bit of whiplash as blood gushed forth from my split lip. Frannie was as upset as I was and cowered in her bed.

Martha's driver rushed her to Northern Westchester Hospital, where she got nine stitches and was soon well enough to concentrate on more important issues ...

CLASSIC. Biatch had a face full of blood and Novocaine, but all she could concentrate on was that horrible ceiling border!!! Brava Diva!!!!!! I forever submit to your bitchy fabulousness.

But Michael K over at Dlisted isn't so sure this was an "accident". Michael thinks this could be payback for dressing up Francesca like THIS...

I'm Missing Snowmageddon in NYC

The interwebz are all abuzz about the Snowpocalypse that's coming to NYC (SnOMG!). But here in Central Pennsylvania they are forecasting only some scattered flurries.

I was thinking about returning to the City on Tuesday - but because of the snow I think I'll wait until Wednesday. There's no rush - my boss isn't expecting me back at work until Jan. 3rd.

If things get really bad, I've found a dog sled team that could get the job done ...

Even Bloodhounds have to put their paw foot down sometimes.

Westminster Dog Show

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show opened last night at Madison Square Garden here in New York City. Yesterday, after leaving my favorite Dollar Store, I walked around the corner and passed The Hotel Pennsylvania (below) - which is the host hotel for the show. It is located directly across the street from The Garden, and houses many of the dogs that are in town for the show. And their owners, of course.

There were all kinds of dogs being taken in and out of the hotel as I walked past. I immediately thought of the hysterical movie - Best In Show - and Ed Begley, Jr. (below), who played the hotel Manager. The Hotel Pennsylvania was the inspiration for the hotel in the movie, and the Westminster Show was the inspiration for the "Mayflower Show".

I love Best In Show. The ensemble cast is a riot (Parker Posey - yeeeaaah!)- and they capture the dog mania (and maniacs) that I would imagine surround actual dog shows.
