The Fugitive Bunnies Of JFK Airport

A colony of black-tailed jackrabbits (above) has made their home in the flatlands around JFK airport for decades. But like many New Yorkers (including myself), these bunnies weren't born here - they were originally from someplace else.

Ephemeral New York has the story:

They’re the progeny of fugitive rabbits native to the U.S. West from a shipment that arrived at JFK about 50 years ago.

A crate of these two-foot rabbits “was supposed to be shipped to a game farm, where the rabbits would be stalked by hunters,” states Wild New York, by Margaret Mittelbach and Michael Crewdson.

“Instead, the jackrabbits broke loose and discovered that the grassy areas alongside the runways were similar to their native desert flatlands.”

“The escaped jackrabbits and their descendants have been living at JFK ever since—and new litters of baby jackrabbits are born at the airport every spring.”

According to my research, these crafty bunnies have actually infiltrated the airport itself...

A few have even gotten jobs at the airport...

Sneaky Bunnies...

I Guess Someone Had a Case of the Mondays

Don't Mess...

Steven Slater (above) a flight attendant with Jet Blue, couldn't get an unruly passenger to RESPECT HER AUTHORITAH yesterday upon arrival at JFK.  So, like any self-respecting Queen, she cursed his ass out over the public adress system, grabbed a couple beers from the galley, and ACTIVATED THE EMERGENCY SLIDE where she proceeded to slide her fabulous ass onto the tarmac.  Steven then sashayed to her apartment in - where else - Queens (where Mr. Slater was later arrested).  I'm just hoping Steven lit a cigarette and, in her best Joan Collins voice, spat out the words - "I will DESTROY You!" to the unruly bastard while blowing smoke in his face.

UPDATE:  According to Dlisted - when the cops knocked on Steven's door, Miss Thang was getting busy with her M-A-N.  Biatch is HARD CORE.

In the category of "Best Exit By An Angry Queen", the Judges give Steven Slater ...

TEN ... TEN ... TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!!!!  Come collect your Trophy, Girl!!!!

What Do You Think?

By now you've probably already heard the story about the air traffic controller at JFK who let his son and daughter make the announcement to clear a couple of planes for take off.  I must say, I am a little surprised by the harsh reaction.

Now, I am a big fan of "The Rules".  We have rules for a reason, and if rules are broken then there should be consequences.  But WOW, some people are freaking out like this dude took a nap while his toddlers coordinated airplane traffic above New York City.  The air traffic controller was right there - in control of the situation.  And the planes weren't in the air - they were in that long-ass line on the runway waiting to take off.

What do you think?  Should the guy be fired?  Should he be disciplined?
