I Spotted A Sewer Alligator!

West Village, NYC

I noticed something peculiar when I went to CVS a few minutes ago - and stopped to snap a picture (above).

When I got back to my office, I got on The Google to see WTF?? From EW.com:
To market season 2 of the series Swamp People, [The] History [Channel] is putting alligators in New York City sewers. Playing off the urban legend, the network’s marketing team is placing very realistic looking model alligators crawling out of the city’s manholes in various locations.

Location: Unknown (via Twitter)

And, of course, I didn't see ONE New Yorker stop and take a second look - everyone just kept on moving.

Killer Hippie Shopping Bags!!!

Like we don't have ENOUGH to worry about here in New York City - The Rent Is Too Damn High®, there are alligators in the sewers and even snakes in our toilets. Not to mention the occasional Sasquatch Kardashian sighting on the subway...

And now we find out those synthetic shopping bags that wealthy Hippies love to take to Whole Foods ARE MADE IN CHINA AND ARE FULL OF LEAD!!!

Real Sewer Alligator Emerges in Astoria!!!

Ok ... it was a BABY alligator and it probably didn't come from the sewer (even though legend says alligators live down there) - but it WAS spotted a few blocks away from my apartment.

Yesterday afternoon this 2 foot long cutie (above) was found hiding under a Datsun.  The police and Animal Control were called and they took the critter into custody and charged him with unlawful crawling and reptilian mischief.

Believe it or not, according to the story in the New York Times, Animal Control averages two to four alligator, crocodile or caiman calls per year.  Most of the times they are brought from the south as pets - but when they get too big people let them go.  Or turn them into handbags...
